Lol, almost mentioned Tenhi in my OP, but I figured since they're Finnish no-one is gonna know them either way. One of my favorite bands.

E: Also have to point out, they have "official" translations for their lyrics on their website all the way up to the previous to last album, done by the band themselves afaik. They're not entirely a 100% accurate and they've taken some fairly big creative liberties in translating them, but close enough and since they're official I give them a pass. Cool to see they get appreciated abroad, they're not very well known over here back home.

Love John Dowland as well.

E2: Just in case anyone is interested:

Tenhi - Varpuspäivä/Sparrow Day,

Salain,

Vastakaiun

Varis Eloinen

So I've always noticed when I'm as down as I can get, I find comfort is music that most people find super depressing all the way to unbearably depressing. Like slit-your-wrists depressing. Songs you'd expect to find someone hanging from a noose in their home on repeat to. These kinds of songs bring comfort because they make me feel like, ok, I'm not so alone with this shit.

And for context, really happy songs just seem the saddest, most devastating songs that there are, because you don't have that, you don't have that happiness, love, support, that glimmer of light everyone's so happy about you know?

So gimme the saddest songs you can think of. I'm wearing Joy Division out.

Some other music/songs I've been listening to: Ren - Hi Ren (and some others of his), Elliott Smith, Micah P. Hinson, Portishead, Swans, Lykke Li - I Never Learn, Interpol, Chelsea Wolfe, Elton John - Rocketman, Matt Elliott, Savages - Adore

Dang I thought the whole "vaginas mouth raping people" of facehuggers and all the sexual horror stuff and all that was just an H. R. Giger thing. All this just made one of my all time favorite movies even better.

least brutal 3-year-old/freshly born.

I'm imagining toddlers growing up to hate their parents' music taste, because they already fucking hated it when they played it to them when they were a fetus in utero.

The dad hyped up "fuck yeah I'm gonna teach this kid to love Slayer because I'm playing it to him now when they're in there!". And then they hate it like "THIS IS WHAT THAT SHIT WAS, I HATED IT ALL THE FUCKING TIME, FUCK YOU!"

We’re going to have to bet on the finns.

Please don't, for the sake of us all, it's the same over here unfortunately.

All of the shit is everywhere already. Fighting this shit is going to have to be a worldwide effort the same way bigots, fascists, nazis etc. are uniting worldwide. There is no place on Earth immune to idiocy, because most people are just idiots and/or fucking suck.

Just transferred all of my subscriptions and blocks from my older, former main account on another instance and I have to say I couldn't be happier that Sopuli is not federated with lemmynsfw and such, my block list for communities was in the four figures over there and here it's hundreds and hundreds less. I'm so happy for being able to scroll All without having to play whack-a-mole with a billion porn communities most of which have and ever will only have the one active person. Every, goddamn, time. I literally had a mental checklist of searchwords I'd go through once a week or two and it'd be dozens and dozens every week and even that didn't cover it.

Just wanted to post if there is ever a question of whether to federate with instances like this. Especially as long as there is no way to block instances. It really makes a maaaasssive difference.

In Finnish it's 'vaahtokarkki' which translates to foamcandy.

No it's doesnt. Infamous is the "opposite" of famous (unknown is the opposite of famous).

Merriam-Webster:

infamous

adjective in·fa·mous ˈin-fə-məs

1 : having a reputation of the worst kind : notoriously evil

2 : causing or bringing infamy : disgraceful

3 : convicted of an offense bringing infamy

You're correct about flammable/inflammable though. Famous vs. infamous is different. English is indeed very inconsistent.

TIL they have Finnish laavu's in the rest of the Nordics/Fennoscandia as well. I wouldn't have thought they have them all the way in Denmark, for some reason.

What makes them infamous in Denmark?
