Feels real bad man. A lot of people that voted against this are going to suffer. For perspective 74.9 million people voted for Harris. That's greater than the entire population of France (68.3 million).

The number of people that didn't want this is massive. But a few more people in this country did want this so now millions have to suffer.

Maybe the depression this causes will give the US a chance. We seem to only have progressive reform when the economy collapses. When the economy is good voters shift to destroying the system because it'll "lower their taxes". Maybe Americans are a lost cause

I know younger millennials and older gen Z and they both can use computers just fine. The oldest Gen Z are nearly 30 now.

I have flirted with the idea of pulling a list all registered business in my area and cross checking political donations from them/their owners.

It's a lot of data to crunch though

If everyone they illegally targeted managed to take one this problem would be quickly resolved

If an ICE agent dies they can't harm anyone else

On one hand I like how the sheriff's office decentralizes police power and gives the community a direct say. In the other hand that's been a disaster

There are some verbal signs that Republicans are breaking. Representatives are slowly beginning to express doubts, but I'll believe them when they actually do something

So truly an insignificant amount in terms of the federal budget, but will be devastating to the average American.

I'm not opposed to bringing the original meme back. It's time

Yes it's absolutely a fact that literally everyone struggling has an iphone

Tariffs have a place in growing and protecting industry, but it has to be targeted. These sweeping country wide tariffs on all products are economical suicide

Truly, I think one of the big reasons that Harris' campaign failed was repeating the "best economy ever" line while so many were struggling under inflation.

Both locally and during work travel through the southeastern US, I'm noticing a lot more agricultural fields being left fallow/abandoned. Usually by this point in the season fields would at least be cleared and planted, but many have been left un-plowed.

I'm also seeing a shift in crops being grown. Definently a lot more fields are growing hay than usual.

Farmers trying to respond to tariffs? Farmers opting to not lease lands leading to more empty fields?

Things in the US are increasingly unstable and the markets have begun reacting to that. It's not looking very promising right now.

Personally, I've begun trying to save as much money as possible and have stayed on top of my deep pantry. I've also stored even more food that I had before.

How is everyone else preparing for a recession? Any tips?

The national forest is doing more controlled burns, but I've never seen it so hazy before in town. It is currently raining ash across the whole city.

I saw a combination of TPD and State Troopers clearing out the very obvious gambling hall on the corner of Lake Bradford and Renfroe Valley St. They had a truck and we're loading up the machines. Couldn't find anything on the news about it yet, but I'll keep an eye out. I'm surprised the police let it operate for as long as they did.

Unrelated but I also saw a city bus had rear ended someone in front of the J. Edwin Larson Building on E. Gaines. No one was hurt, kinda funny

Edit: News article for gambling bust

Does anyone know of any bluesky accounts that feature tallahassee news and communities?

I did a general search, but didn't find much.

Also any other alternative social media options for tallahassee would be cool if you know any.

What is your unconventional prep. Something that you think is uncommon or weird, but will always keep extras of?

Personally I've been really big on keeping canned pumpkin on hand. While it's not the most nutrient dense food around it has the most fiber out of any canned item I can find and adds a new taste to everything. Goes great in mashed potatoes and soup.

Hi everyone this is just a simple welcome post. The community rules are simple, keep it related to Tallahassee and be nice.

So far there are no plans for the community, but suggestions are welcome. I hope to run this page in an open door and welcoming manner.
