Nice. Happy cake day!

In my experience, these mistakes are made primarily by native speakers. Because they learned it by hearing and can't tell the difference. Those who learned English as a second language learn through books and are explicitly taught the difference.
You mostly just repeated what I said. And it's not "pure" sugar, it's about 10-15% sugar. Which applies to almost all commercial drinks, like juices, teas and coffees. You can't single out sodas here, rest are just as bad. Just watch your sugar intake and you can drink sweet beverages fine.
I didn't know that CO~²~ is bad for bones. I'll have to look that up.
On Reddit I always assumed that so many people can't be that ~~stupid~~ uneducated and make these obvious mistakes for engagement bait.
But now that we are on Lemmy, and engagement gets you nowhere, I'm losing faith in humanity at a faster pace.
For those of us who need to do research to get this joke, I already did it. They mean Rubicon River (which is no longer in the north, so don't look for it there, it's on the opposite side of the knee).
Everything is bad for you, if you consume a lot of it. Soda, as in carbonated drinks, isn't inherently bad, it just has high sugar content. Which you still need to function, it's energy, but in moderation. Nothing bad will happen if you occasionally drink a can of soda, just don't substitute water with it. Which mostly a real problem only in NA. And if you live in NA, then also try to avoid overconsumption of all non-carbonated drinks, too. Cause juices and iced teas all have very comparable sugar content.
I think it would be better if you embedded the image directly with ![]()
🙏 Bless!
Cliff Couquette?
Nah, it's obviously Terra Girl.
I agree with you that the article is clickbaity, it implies that it's the default punishment. But technically, it isn't wrong. It's still possible to get death penalty for advocating for Taiwan independence.
Without looking at your post history, I think your downvotes are unjustified. You merely pointed out the clickbait. But it would be better if you presented it in more affirming way, cause right now your comment kinda reads like you're refuting the article and "it's not a death sentence, it's only a 3-year imprisonment", which is also not true.
