I think that flat tax would be ideal. Except it shouldn't be applied to food, education, or medical.

Then no tax time at end of the year. Cuz it's already done--year round. And the rich would actually pay more taxes, because they buy more stuff.

If you live a frugal life, you're paying less taxes, cuz your buying less stuff.

And as long as it's not applied to food, then it shouldn't negatively effect lower income brackets.

And no tax cheats, because even if they only got paid in cash/bought stuff with cash, still taxed because goods are taxed. So people who do shady "cash only" deals, are still paying taxes.

And I bet since everyone would be paying, more taxes would be collected, but I bet the average tax-payer would pay nearly the same or even less than what they pay in taxes now.

I didn't support Harris. I voted Socialist. Am pro-third party. Always have been.

What's really funny and ironic to me is that before the election--and just because I didn't support Harris--many on Lemmy thought that I was getting paid by Trump and/or Russia to post. They insisted that I was working for Trump or the Russians. There was even a guy who bragged about creating a program to track all my posts and downvote them, and then he offered the program to other people here. And he STILL insists that I am getting paid by Russia, even after the election! (Hi @pooperNickel@lemm.ee)

All just because I didn't wasn't going to vote for Harris and I posted articles that Trump was gaining on Harris in the polls--which turned out to be correct, by the way. I didn't vote for Trump either tho! lmao

And here we are, reading proof that it was actually the Harris campaign doing that was doing all the fuckery. lolololololol

I think there were people from her campaign that were actively working with mods on lemmy.world to ban anti-Harris people as well.

All that shady shit, and she still ended up losing the electoral AND the popular vote. lol

Right?! What is the going rate these days? What's rubles to dollars?!

Honestly the comments here are basically an example of what I don’t like about politics; the hate.

Agreed!

Then feel free to start your own community and post The Onion articles.

I created this community. And I allow posting from the Daily Mail.

Be the change you wanna see, comrade.

You're not going to change my mind. I appreciate and respect that you have your opinions. I just don't share them. All good, friend!

Liking them isn’t enough, they should be a reliable source of factual information. They’re not.

I happen to think they are pretty reliable, and def not any less reliable than most news orgs. All news orgs are biased.

I don't think anyone on Lemmy can really talk about "filter bubble." I mean, Lemmy is an even bigger filter bubble than reddit! lol

But hey, I like them. I totally get lots of others don't. I'm cool with you thinking that. All good, friend!

Also 2.5 million to Oprah seems small from a 100 million per week spending

Just shows you the scale and how quickly people have gotten used to the Duopoly spending money. Because 2.5 million dollars is a fuckton of money just to have someone tell people who they are voting for. And a 100 mil a week is just fuckin' insanity.

And they still lost.

I actually didn’t know that Trump promised to pardon Ross Ulbricht! That would be pretty badass if he actually followed through and did that. I don't see him doing it though...
