Well, if you are going to argue that we need to figure out a way to get virtual kiddie porn to pedophiles so that we can protect kids, you should be sure it won't lead to more kids being abused first.

Did I misinterpret your position?

I don't believe that there are any studies that have shown that acting out fantasies in virtual spaces will reduce actions being taken out on real people.

Since it seems like your argument rests on that, do you have anything you can reference to back up the claim?

You dont think polluting the world is going to have a net negative effect for humanity?

What exactly is there to gain with AI anyways? What's the great benefit to us as a species? So far its just been used to trivialize multiple artistic disciplines, basic service industries, and programming.

Things have a cost, many people are doing the cost-benefit analysis and seeing there is none for them. Seems most of the incentive to develop this software is if you would like to stop paying people who do the jobs listed above.

What do we get out of burning the planet to the ground? And even if you find an AI thats barely burning it, what's the point in the first place?

Right! Mine would think it was a game to catch and eat my hands!

Now, I am hoping I am not the only one in this community who has realized that privacy should be one of the top considerations when choosing what software to use on any device.

Leaving Reddit has been the catalyst for me to realize this, as silly as that might sound, and now I have to re-evaluate my list of "convenient" apps that are in NO WAY secure or private.

I want to ask everyone here if they have any recommendations for essentially replacement applications for all of the major categories of software that we use on our computers and mobile devices.

For example, here are some of the switches I made today: Chrome Mobile > Opera Mobile Chrome Desktop > Opera Desktop Facebook Messenger > Signal Facebook Social Media > No alternative just deleted it.

My hope with this post is that we can have a discussion on privacy apps in general as trying to track down information for each sector one by one and test each out can be arduous.

To kick off the discussion here are some other categories that I have not figured out an answer for yet:

Search Engines (duckduckgo is mentioned a lot, why?) Operating Systems Cloud Storage Email Providers Podcasts Video/Music Services (Youtube, Paid services, etc) Environment Specific advice for Android, iOS, and any others.

Also if it makes sense, should we consider privacy when choosing, say, a news website to frequent? Or would browser choice ultimately be the decider there.

Oh nice so you are saying essentially you can submit screenshots directly from the clipboard?

I am posting this because I am ashamed I just found out it existed, and I thought I would subject the rest of my Beehaw friends to the same experience! 😁

The instructions are super simple, Windows Key + . (period) opens up a little overlay which contains Emojis, GIFs, Clipboard, and some other stuff I'm not sure is useful.

Ill end this post with a question for you all:

-What was something you learned about technology FAR later than you SHOULD have?

What a cutie!

What kind of animal is that? I always mix up the different types of smaller animals like these.

Is it normal to let them outside or out of their cages to free roam or are they happy enough in a big enough cage?
