So I received an email from Pine64 on this matter:

"Does to double Ethernet height, currently only acrylic enclosure available. the Rockpro64 Premium Aluminum casing not suitable for Star64 SBC."

Guess no NVME option at the moment as the acrylic case is too short for that.

So there is a happy ending. I called the Customer Accounts Team at Mouser. They couldn't explain why the order was cancelled but sent me an email link to verify the credit card used. After that the order was reinstated and shipped. It arrived less than 12 hours after that. Now to find time to play with my new Unmatched......

I use BTRFS on my Artix system, Ext4 on my Librem 5, Ext4 on my Devuan laptop and Ext4 on my Pinebook Pro. Basically when given the choice in the installer I choose BTRFS but if the installer doesn't let me pick I don't care enough to manually partition. I have had no negative experiences with any file system luckily so I just roll with whatever.

Has anyone here ever purchased anything from Mouser ? I tried to buy a Sifive Unmatched from there and a day later the order was cancelled by their Customer Accounts Team "after further review". I will be calling them for more info but it just struck me as one of the weirdest experiences I have had with an online store.

One of the reasons I prefer GOG is that I don't want to use a client. I prefer to download offline installers and then run my games through Lutris or Heroic Games Launcher.

Can anybody suggest an enclosure for the Star64 SBC ? The only one they list as compatible on the Pine64 store is the acrylic enclosure but that won't work if one wants to use the M.2 PCI-E card which I do. I think the ROCKPro64 Premium Aluminum Casing will fit well enough by looking at how the ports would line up but it would be nice to get more info before ordering.

When dealing with ARM and RISC-V devices one constant I see is that distros or devs will make a specific image for a device. This image usually lacks a few things I am used to. On X86 the norm is to have an installer where I can make many choices such as whether to have full disk encryption, choose which DE I want, choose which device to install to (such as NVME) and choose my filesystem type. Does any distro do this for any RISC-V board ?

I tried to update my Pinephone CE using "sudo apk upgrade -a" and received the error

"Not continuing due to stale/unavailable repositories. Use --force-missing-repositories to continue"

I am on 23.12 with Phosh. I remember hearing that the Pinephone may be getting dropped from main to community so I wasn't sure if this was related to that or something different. Is it safe to use the command it suggests ? I figured I would ask before blindly doing it.

Still using KeepassXC on desktop and laptop and KeePassDX on mobile.

I would love to use PostmarketOS as my daily driver but my Pinephone CE isn't really giving me the battery life I need to make it happen. I am looking at what phones I can get my hands on in Canada that would be better suited. So far the OnePlus 6T seems to be my best option. I can't get the Shift6mq or the Poco F1 shipped here. Any suggestions if battery life is my main need ? I take my phone off the charger at 11am and don't get home until close to midnight with no way to charge while at work.

Obviously things can change over time but does anybody know if there is currently any planned support for the RISC-V version of the PineTab 2 for PostmarketOS ? Would a RISC-V device even work with PostmarketOS ?

Is it just me or did that article not mention the name of the algorithm or where to get it ?

I got my hands on an Intel Arc A770 tonight. Sadly I couldn't get it to work with Trisquel 11. When I tried to boot from the .iso it gave me an error saying "HDMI/DP requires binding with gfx driver". I then installed Trisquel 11 onto the system using the onboard GPU only, updated everything, and installed the 6.1.11-gnu kernel from Freesh. It still gave me the same problem when I put the Arc 770 back in. I tried it on another system using Trisquel 11 with the same result. It's not a DOA GPU because it works on my Solus system. I don't think this is a libre kernel issue though as when I do a web search on this error message several people who use various graphics cards and distros have had this in the past. That being said the only system I have that this GPU works on right now is my Solus system that doesn't have the libre kernel. It also isn't an issue of kernel version or Mesa version as my Solus system is using an older Mesa and kernel than my Trisquel 11. Any ideas ?

Can anybody reccomend a FOSS replacement for the museum software PastPerfect ? Needs to be available for Windows 10. I was able to find CollectiveAccess and CollectionSpace but neither seem very easy to get setup. “CollectiveAccess” for instance needs to be built from source. This museum has novices at best when it comes to tech.
