Yeah you'd think, but when I worked in cybersecurity the thing that freaked me out the most is how often this just doesn't happen. It can happen immediately or it can take ages.
PoPoP
Another thing I think about sometimes is how games can be malicious too. The trend in PC gaming for a while now is "flavor of the month" where every couple months a huge breakout title comes out and everyone plays it for a few weeks.
The expectation from these games is that they run like shit despite being a fifth as graphically complex as a bigger budget game. What stops them from slipping a coin miner in for half a day at the peak of their popularity?
Schedule 1 for example. I love this game and I'm not accusing them of anything, just an example. Let's be honest. It runs at 100fps when it could run at 1000fps. Say the dev finally optimizes it, pushes the optimizations and a coin miner in a hotfix patch with no patch notes post on Steam. Six hours later the dev removes the coin miner and pushes that as a major patch with a patch notes release calling it the "optimization update" or something. We'd be none the wiser.
Don't take this as me saying not to support indie titles but it's a little weird that millions of people install untrusted closed source code from 1-3 devs all at the same time every couple months.
Can I copytrade her? Corruption ETF when?
You don't actually think saying crazy shit like this to people is going to change anyone's mind about anything do you? If anything this kind of talk makes people more entrenched in their opinions. So you're just venting, which is understandable, but you're wrong to take it out on a stranger regardless of if you think a political disagreement makes them subhuman. You need therapy.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what the actual fuck is wrong with you.
Why would you expect someone to put their life on the line for you when you spout off about them all being lunatics? They're at home with their family ready to protect their own home from tyranny as it comes to their own front door. They're not assembling an army to take care of you too. You hate them, so defend yourself if you want to.
Besides, my entire point is about how fucking stupid it is to be all like "I'm not hearing anything from those people I never talk to, curious isn't it?" I literally do not care in the slightest about a might-as-well-be-copypasted rant I've heard 10000 times from people who might as well be the exact same person as you.
Literally everyone I know who is in favor of 2A is against this. They're "being real quiet" because you don't interact with them and have no line of communication with them outside of Twitter trolls
I could not imagine a more stereotypical reply if you paid me
You know, I agree with you, but we're already on the same team. Keep in mind though, we aren't trying to change the minds of the few powerful and evil motherfuckers who want us all dead. It can't be done. We want the average person to side with us, and the average person builds logical arguments around their emotions, not the other way around.
The average person is not a murderous freak and being made out to be one simply because they aren't on board with something they don't understand will absolutely harbor negative sentiment. They aren't going to be discerning and they are going to take this to be about them. And like I said, then the logical arguments get built around that negative sentiment. Then they start voting, and so on.
I'm not saying calm down, because you shouldn't. But red-hot messaging does not help. Turn the temperature down and you'll see more people agreeing with you who, importantly, didn't already agree with you BEFORE they read your message.
As tempting as it is to just think something along the lines of "everyone is just hateful and dumb" I think it's entirely possible that there is some fundamental issue with our messaging. Focus on the things you can control.
Lol. U mad bro? If you can't take the heat...
Exhibit A, Your Honor.
