I‘m glad that the US is progressing in this regard but I just looked up the numbers for DB in Germany to have a comparison: 1.8 billion passenger trips / year and that with a population a quarter the size of the US.
Keep in mind that Amtrack is serving much longer distance routes, so this is far from a perfect comparison.
It’s also ridiculous how often I see „Java“ instead of „JavaScript“ in job listings.
Edit: Not trying to judge Java here, this is purely about recruiters not knowing the difference, posting jobs for Java devs when they need JS devs
Exercise really helped against feeling tired for me. I also sleep much better since I started going for runs around 3 times a week. It does eat up a lot of my time though.
Open AI‘s newest model is priced at 200 $ / month since they have been bleeding money and desperately need to earn some cash. This is probably the first sign of the bubble collapsing.
Wherever this screenshot was posted first, probably ranks content with these words lower to optimize for ad revenue of that service. I don’t know how people think these platforms are just a fine place to spend their time on
Exactly, for the topic of cybersecurity you could take the metaphor of a fort that is under constant attack and has to be defended for example and you could explain it reasonably well to people who lived thousands of years ago.
Yeah it’s a shame that everyone is only pulling out after the US election. They should have done it a year or even two ago.
Seriously, pretty much all people I‘ve met who are offended by LGBTQ people have either suppressed desires or are really insecure about their own sexuality in some way.
It’s like that Hungarian minister who constantly attacked gay people until he was found by police at an illegal gay orgy in Brussels (illegal since it was during Covid lockdowns).
It makes sense to me, because it probably ostracizes you from the people around you, and your nutjob social bubble that validates your new opinions is only on the platform, making you spend a lot more time there.
Seems quite accurate to me. A former friend who drifted into one of these right wing bubbles posted a poll from Germany where we‘re both based, that showed that around 80% of Germans would have voted for Harris and he claimed he doesn’t know a single one of them and that the poll is fake.
Of course the poll was relatively accurate and he is simply only exposed to these 10% of the population bubble of Trump fans but does not realize this.
The issue is that both Trump and Putin heavily support fascist parties in European countries. Just today Musk endorsed Germany‘s far right / nazi party again.
What will unfortunately probably happen is that European leaders will not give into the US‘s demands initially, prices rise due to trade wars and some goods possibly become inaccessible.
The lower standards of living fuel dissent and fascists get elected in EU countries who cut deals that might relieve the situation temporarily but will almost certainly enrich the fascists themselves, weaken the EU and weaken democratic values.
