i recommend reading 1984 to get a more refined look at the author's views. A lot of people read animal farm first and think the premise purely amounts to 'communism bad' and stop there. Whereas i suspect most people that started with 1984 eventually still read animal farm and come away with a more nuanced take for both.

Oh, no. you're correct. my mistake. it's been a while.
the scarlet letter. I found it extremely unrelatable, and generally boring. I think The Crucible play by ~~the same author~~ arthur miller* conveys the same overarching principles about religious hypocrisy and herd mentality in a much more interesting way.
Well I've just read every comment on this thread and I'm relieved to realize that our recitation of our National Pledge of Allegience at every opportunity is in-fact seen as totally normal.
So it looks like the CEO of mozilla is bleeding firefox to pad his salary. Thats disappointing. Are we sure firefox wasn't simply taken over by a private-equity firm?

Same. This has been the story of my entire adult life and It's so frustrating in it's own right.
If other peoples' tax evasion is your big concern then you hate the wrong people.
I haven't used a new printer or an inkjet in a number of years now, but using my 18yo HP laserjet is a matter of plugging it in and checking it's status under the main distro settings menu. That was also on par with the windows process iirc.
I do remember 20 years ago when I had to sideload pcmcia wifi drivers, though.

I like it but i noticed while reading it that Isaac Asimov has such an optimistic 1950s view, it can be challenging to keep reading with such limited conflict.
