You can get tape that's not clear nor is it completely opaque.

You can find dark colored "clear" style tape.

Alternatively, take a sharpie to some Scotch tape. Color to preference.

One of my favorite things to witness (usually via video) is someone being persistent, to the point of annoyance, bring told "no" every time, with varying degrees of profanity mixed in.... Then when something happens that makes the annoying person who is persistent finally stop (usually involving physical violence), they say "all you had to do was say no!"

Aaaahahahaha. You were an annoying little shit and wouldn't take no for an answer despite being told no repeatedly. You deserved what you got, you dumb fuck.

I think we agree that capitalism is the problem.

IMO, password changes were always bs. I'm a tech, and I always disagreed with it.

Longer, better passwords were always the better option. But try to convince your average worker to memorize a 15+ character password and they'll tell you where to go.

Meanwhile... https://xkcd.com/936/

Today, with MFA.... Good MFA, not the SMS bull crap... Password "leaks" or breaches, are effectively a thing of the past.

Oh, you have my password? You guessed it, or found out leaked on some list? Cool. Good luck guessing the seed for my MFA, in the time it takes me to go change my password, locking you out of my account. MFA failures should be reported to users. Often they're not.

Short story: I once had a notice from Twitter about access to my account from a foreign location. Kudos to Twitter, since they recognised the odd behavior and stopped it (this is pre-musk Twitter BTW). I logged in, changed my password using my password manager (the previous password was too simple, from before I had a password manager), then added a FIDO MFA to my account. I tweeted out to whomever was trying to log in to my account, to thank them, as my Twitter account now had better login security than my bank. IDK why banks don't support MFA beyond sms, but that was the case at the time, and largely, that's still the case where I am.

From a security standpoint, I recommend you follow xkcd's example, generate a long passphrase for yourself, and use it to secure a password manager (and whatever recovery options they have, eg, email), and add MFA to that, and anything else that supports it.

It's a pain to do, but honestly, better than waiting to see if someone is going to be able to log in to your stuff when your password is inevitably leaked by someone.

As a technologist and a casual photog, I'll chime in.

The answer is optics.

Previously, phones had basically one set focal point, and everything from a certain distance to infinity would be in focus. There was no way to adjust our change it, because the optics were basically sandwiched against the sensor.

More modern phones can do some level of focus, which allows focus to be set much closer to the phone. At first, this didn't really introduce much thickness, and phones were fairly thick in the first place (at least, compared to today)... So it was merely a matter of shifting some things around to make everything work.

Now? Between the pulls for longer battery life, with the relatively stale battery technology in use (we haven't seen any significant uplift in battery storage density in a while, some might be coming, but they're not here - so the only way to add battery is to install a larger one); the push for thin/light phones, and the push for better image quality in phones (4k video, bigger zoom, bigger image sizes, etc)... Everything has culminated into adding space for optics, and making everything else slimmer. The only other area where the phone is growing in size, is the screen.

Personally, I don't understand the race to be the thinnest phone. I don't give a shit. I don't want to be holding a piece of paper that makes calls. Back in the day, even the very chunky handsets of landline phones were not comfortable to hold for extended periods of time, and there were attachments you could get to make them bigger, so it would be more comfortable to hold the already massive (by today's standards) handset against your shoulder. Ever seen someone try to hold a cellphone with their shoulder? It's not comfortable.

.... I know what they will say.... Bluetooth! Headsets! (Blah blah blah). Handsets existed for landlines too. Nobody bought them. IMO, the only reason people use Bluetooth for calls is because they bought the BT headset for something else (like music). BT headsets for only calls were pretty much only purchased by the same dicks that bought headset landline phones.

Anyways, I'm off topic now. While I don't get the compulsion to make phones thin, I understand that optics need space and it's the reason why there's a camera bump. Companies wanted thinner phones but needed space for optics, so this was the only way to accomplish both.

IMO, a lot of this "lady's" complaint is a result of equality, and the "me too" movement (and related concepts). None of which is bad. I'll make that clear. This is not a bad thing.

Guys are respecting me, and leaving me alone when I say so? Omg, what a fucking shocker. Something that should have always been the case is happening and she's.... What? Upset about it?

Does she want to date rapists? People who would physically and emotionally force themselves on their victims? That's the exact behavior we're trying to eliminate. WTF?

Lady, as a guy, I want to inform you that, we're not the problem here.

If you like someone, and they ask you on a date, say yes. It's that simple.

Screw the haters. This is awesome. Keep it up.

My only concern with this is that she might get the impression that people will do whatever she asks, but there's a ton of context missing which likely demonstrates those concepts to her.

My only suggestion is to make it clear that if she says no, or stop, and someone doesn't stop, do something about that. I'm sure that will be a discussion later. She sounds young enough for it to not be very important right now.

I appreciate this.

I don't have kids and I'm just some guy on the internet, but I appreciate you nonetheless.

It's also not something that you can really stop people from doing.

You might be able to stop people sharing the information freely, but, the transponders that people track and the protocols and standards for the communication are well known internationally. It doesn't take more than $50 in parts to set up your own receiver and connect it to a computer.

I'd consider any law prohibiting the observation of air traffic by the public to be impossible to enforce. How can you stop someone from listening by law?

Sharing the information, however, that's a bit different.

This is something the neckbeards need to take a page from (apologies for the intended pun).

It boils down to this. No matter who you're dealing with, no matter what they look like, no matter what may afflict them.... People want to be treated like people. Not be "looked after" or "taken care of" or whatever....

The friend zone doesn't exist. If you're in a "friend zone", one of two things is true: either, they're not attracted to you (big deal, move on), or you've made it clear to them that you would be a nightmare to date.

Pretty much every gf I've ever had in my 20+ years of dating, started with friendly conversation and normal get togethers with friends. I'm going to depart the dating pool now, the ring is on order and I got the tracking number yesterday.

Stop treating anyone like they're a prize to be won, or that you need to do something "get" them. If you're being yourself, and nerding out over something you're genuinely interested in, and that turns them off, then maybe your happiness isn't important to that person you like so much.... Maybe you need to find someone who can be happy that you're happy. Simply: you deserve to be with someone who loves who you are, not what you are for them.

I dare say that this is the most wholesome green text story I've seen so far.

The USA was founded on capitalist ideals. This is the system working as intended.

The price will be whatever the market will bear. Right now, they're figuring out exactly what the market will bear. They'll step back from the line just a little bit then slowly creep up over time to reclaim all the profits.

If you're old enough to remember, this happened with fuel prices not super long ago. Prices were sent just north of ~ $3/gallon, and there was outrage. The prices dropped back to somewhat normal levels and everything resumed but the prices always kept trending higher and higher, now, we barely even flinch at $3/gal, and often, that's considered a good price for fuel.... At least, it is where I am.

The same people who were outraged by it now seek it out. This isn't any different. They spiked prices, now sales are falling like a brick. They'll bring it down to something "more reasonable" in the near future to recover sales, then over the next 5-10 years they slowly jack it back up to the current price and beyond and we will barely even notice.

I just want to say, I have a pretty nice Nike cap that I got from a previous employer. It's embroidered with the company logo, but otherwise it's pretty much blank. I don't typically wear caps, but this is one of a very very small collection I have (I think it's the only one that I know where it is), when I do.

I can't wear it anymore, and I haven't been able to for years. It's red. The same bright red as the Maga caps. The company logo is white, and square on the front of it, just like where the text is on the Maga caps.

From a distance, they're indistinguishable.

I can't wear it because I don't even want to be confused for one of these Maga jerks, even from a distance. They've basically ruined red ball caps.

Instead of wearing the ball cap in summer, I went and picked up a Tilly hat. It's fine I guess. Not red, which is a big feature.

It sucks because I really like that hat. It fits well. Most Ball caps don't fit right and I'm uncomfortable. I finally found one that's not a literal pain to wear, and I can't wear it anymore because Trump.
