Today's game is Max Payne. I've had this for a while and with how much Alan Wake II takes from Max Payne i thought it would be appropriate to at least visit it.

At first i tried playing with controller and struggled, but i found that once i switched to PC it became far more natural. The Bullet Time mechanic is satisfying to use, and the story scratches an itch which only L.A. Noire seemed to hit up until this point in time. On top of that i love the setting. I love big cities and especially during the winter. Not to mention i love the graphics retro graphics of it.

On top of that, I finally got 100% on Alan Wake 1 today! I went through and got all the collectibles and the misc achievements. It took going through almost the entire game again but by basically speedrunning it i did it.

Fuck yeah, love classic sonic so much. Sonic 2 especially

No man's sky does an amazing job of looking pretty like this. I think i'd actively have to try to make a screenshot of the game look bad

Today's game is Alan Wake's American Nightmare. I finished the third loop on nightmare mode today. After this i think i'll take a break briefly before moving onto Alan Wake II. I think i might try and play through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy or Fallout 4. Or maybe i'll try finish Control, start Quantum Break, or start the first Max Payne so i stay in the Remedy-verse

I had forgotten how terrifying the game gets later. I'm going to avoid story spoilers, but the enemies get far more monstrous and larger. So it turns into you having these huge creatures nearly double your height pursuing you with buzzsaws. On nightmare mode they are bullet sponges too. I had to load nearly 20 rounds into them to go down. This game has the remedy charm though, and throws you into a battle sequence with two of them and a song playing, making it feel far more epic and providing what imo felt like a comfortable spacer from the usual pace American Nightmare sets.

I would say at this point it's much better. the recent updates have helped to mitigate the issue of planets looking the same a ton. For the gameplay loop, At least for me, is very similar too launch (Go to new planet, do your preferred task to earn money. For me i use my freighter and my crew too collect goods and trade them in different systems and i also Archive animals and flora. And then I move to another system).

But they have also added more to do in that cycle too. For example, I typically break up the gameplay loop by returning to my base i built and tending to the NPCs that live there and also to use the facilities i constructed. I also manage a fleet from my freighter to send them on missions. On top of that there is the Anomaly which now has a ton of community things to do. There's also different factions to join and get your rank up with.

It's definitely improved a ton, i would say with it's nature though it may not be for everyone

Today's game is No Man's Sky again. I'm hooked on the Cursed Expedition they have. The creatures on the planet are gorgeous. I'm almost finished with the first tier of the Expedition, after staying up later than i should have to finish it. But its all worth it for the new pet you get with it.

Today's screenshot is of a Huge Sky Jellyfish i got a picture of while on the cursed expedition. It was flying around the location i spawned in. After i got my ship fixed I flew my it past the Jellyfish and i was completely dwarfed by how large this thing is. It's too bad i can't tame it. i'd love to have one in my Companion Registry right next to Orbo.

Speaking of my companion registry i got a new creature that's a glowing blue mass. It makes a buzzing and humming noise. I tamed one and it's really cool. I wish there was a coral or something i could put my pets in around my base so they can wander around.

This is the first i'm hearing about Elite Dangerous and i'm just now discovering another game to feed my inner space nerd. I'll have to pick it up with the upcoming steam sale

I try to keep some diversity. It's a lot easier with a backlog of 300 games though lol

It feels like only a few weeks ago that i started posting screenshots. It's hard to believe i've played through two large games in such a short amount of time. 100 days really feels longer than it actually is sometimes

You'll find yourself at #50 before you know it!

I just started their new Cursed expedition today after trying to get around to it. After not playing for a few months it already feels like i have so much new stuff to do. I really appreciate that they didn't give up on it.

Today's game is No Man's Sky, and day 100! I honestly didn't expect to get this far with my schedule but i'm happy i did.

I decided to play No Man's Sky after seeing the new update for Halloween with all the Cthulhu stuff. I especially want the Bioluminescent Companion from it. I went to collect my Extractors on my freighter before leaving and snagged this shot from my balcony. I also got a few extras from planets i stopped along the way.

This one is of a planet that was entirely yellow. This is how i found out i have the sense of humor of a Middle Schooler.

This one i stopped by and took a screenshot at. I thought it was pretty with all the purple on it and i was planning to build a base here, but then i saw the corrupted sentinels and noped out because they're more of a pain then they're worth

This final one i saved for last. Partly because it's my favorite with all the snow, and partly because all my other posts with Alan Wake have been dark, so i wanted to put something a bit brighter at the forefront. The ship in the snow there is the Hanai HA5 which is a Solar ship i have. I wish it came in a different color other than yellow, but oh well.

Today's game is Alan Wake's American Nightmare. I completed the second loop today, and also finally moved out of my comfort zone by using the assault rifle. The animation for it looks hilarious with Alan. I also found out how much of a pain The Birdman and the Splitter are because they take 8 shots to go down with the Hunting Rifle. Out of all the enemies on Nightmare mode they gave me the most trouble. My MicroSD card i kept it on also decided today was a perfect day to die, so i had to perform an emergency transfer to get everything off of it. I'm going to call SanDisk support tomorrow to see if i'm still under warranty. Luckily i have Alan Wake II still installed on the Internal SSD so i should be good for the day after tomorrow.

1 more day now!!

Today's game is Alan Wake's American Nightmare. I started the first loop today, i plan to space it out between three days for the three loops, partly because it feels like a good way to space it out and partly because i have 6 achievements left in Alan Wake (Relevant Picture Attached)

I love American Nightmare though, i think it pairs well with the original. While the original is much more of a thriller i feel like, American Nightmare feels like it leans much more into the Action side. Where in Alan Wake it felt like you were in a constant fight for survival, American Nightmare throws an Assault Rifle at you and tells you to have fun. On top of this the Revolver of the first game is by default replaced with a 9m pistol, which i feel removes some of the thriller vibes because you don't have to mash x to reload faster, you just tap x to reload (though i will proudly admit i went traditional loadout and equipped a Shotgun and Revolver). It still has it's thriller moments but like i said, it feels far more action orientated.

spoilerThis is especially evident with the opening segment where you light blow up the oil field by summoning a Satellite while Kasabian's Club Foot plays. (Once Again, Relevant Picture Attached)

This also feels evident in the controls, AW has much floatier controls while AWAN's controls are much more sensitive and precise, perfect for the much more action orientated gameplay.

I feel like this difference though makes for an amazing companion to the First one, and i appreciate it for trying it's own new thing. Especially for being maybe only a few hours in length it's great to play right after the first one imo.

I enjoyed the quick bit i played of it. If i'm still in a horror mood after Alan Wake II i'm definitely going back to it finish it

[–] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago

Alan Wake i feel like is a game franchise that only comes around rarely. Each entry is usually amazing and filled to the brim with so much care and details. I definitely enjoyed the quick time i spent with The Evil Within though, its a lot of fun and does an awesome job of keeping you in suspense, especially with how it encourages stealth i feel like

Today's game is The Evil Within. I wanted to stick with the horror theme i have going but wanted to pad something in between Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare, so i picked this up. I really enjoyed it, if i'm hopefully still in a horror mood after Alan Wake II i'll probably continue this (Especially if i can't get my hands on the Silent Hill 2 Remake by then).

This Sewage tunnel in the screenshot really freaked me out more than it should have. i was fully expecting to get jump scared by something with the way this was designed, or at least have to run. I have to say this game does a good job of managing that feel. I always feel like I'm weak and being hunted despite the game giving me tons of tools to fight things.

Thanks! I was working on cleaning up achievements for Alan Wake 1 al say, so Alan Wake 2 will have to wait for a little bit longer, but i'm excited to pick it up again!

Today’s game is Alan Wake. Tonight may or may not be the last Screenshot from Alan Wake depending on how Achievement Clean up goes tomorrow (I have to get most of the collectibles and that’s it besides some misc. stuff). I’m proud to say though I completed the entire game on nightmare mode. Even got the Gunless wonder achievement for beating the last episode without firing a single shot and the one for Special 1 where you don’t use a vehicle (along with all manuscript pages).

This screenshot is from Special 2. I took it while climbing up the lighthouse using the Freecam built into the game. This whole episode is a lot of fun. The word mechanics are great and I feel like it leverages the Dream like state of the Dark Place well.

Another part I enjoyed was this Ferris wheel segment. Idk why, maybe I’m part hamster, but I really enjoyed this and how everything seemed to be flipped on its head at some parts. Especially the part where I had to jump in the water. I was really unsure due to how water was portrayed in this game.

On a side note. Something was wrong with Dream Barry. Idk if it’s an intentional developer joke because the player would probably never see, or if my game is bugged or what. But Barry’s eye textures were replaced with his face textures. It’s not like this in Special 2, or in his normal model in the base game. So idk what’s wrong with him here.

Today’s game is Alan Wake. I finally started on Episode 6. I was hoping to clear it in one go and nab the Gunless wonder achievement too. So far I’m doing good. But I got stuck on this section in some woods where I don’t have any flares or flashbacks, and since I can’t use guns or I’ll lose the achievement, I’m basically at the hardest challenge yet I’ve had yet I think. On top of that my battery almost died so I put my console to sleep and plan to finish the last 10~ Minutes tomorrow and start on DLC 1 & DLC 2. The after that I think I might do American Nightmare before Alan Wake II. It’s not too long of a game so I should be able to clear it easily.

This screenshot I took right outside the Majestic Motell. I want to also use this to talk about the games awesome attention to detail as well.

While trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible, In one of the books we follow a protagonist who stays in this hotel, and he stays in the same room Agent Nightingale stayed in. He finds Agent Nightingale’s notes in the Air Vents while looking for a place to store his Dream Journal. Lo and behold. What do I find in the Air Vents in Agent Nightingale’s room?

Anyways, I love this game’s attention to detail. I really hope Alan Wake II has the same because it’s something remedy does well at on top of original gameplay imo.

Today’s game is Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. Me and a Friend are getting ready for something tomorrow. So we were low on time. We ended up playing some Borderland to save on time. I played claptrap. I don’t have much of a story this time due to just not playing very long, so instead I’ll talk about the game.

I can see why this game was so well received back in the day. A lot of the humor still stands up well, at least imo, and the gameplay cycle is fun. One of the guns I had I could throw when I reload and they explode which is incredibly satisfying to do. On top of that Claptraps special perk is fun, especially when it irritates the people I’m playing with, such as one that makes them continuously fire according to my friend. Overall I had a lot of fun just playing around in the game with my friend and doing some side quests.

Today's game is Just Cause 4. I wanted to take it easy after an exhausting week of work. At this point i doubt i'll make much of a dent in Alan Wake II by Halloween, but it's better than burning myself out and not having fun.

I picked Just Cause 4 because it was the one i had installed. I have more nostalgic memories of Just Cause 3 and dicking around in that. But Just Cause 4 is a lot of fun too with the balloons and stuff. I ran around and did a few missions and tethered some guys and their cars to some Balloons. You're seeing the after effects here.

I also had a lot of fun strapping the boosters to the bottom of a car with balloons and getting in and turning it on. The car took flight and would crash into other cars. Has the same kind of chaotic feel as Red Dead Redemption and Wagon Surfing.

Today's game is Phasmophobia. Me and my Friend decided to celebrate finishing our midterms by playing this.

We found out we actually have turn on the motion sensors, and then i watched my friend stumbler out into the front yard and get choked to death (I took a photo of the ghost while it happening and got some extra cash though! So really who won?).

In another job my friend was bitching me out for taking photos because they're "useless". Jokes on him though because the $12 dollars we got after failing to guess right came from my photos of the sink.

Here's a bonus photo of my friend up in my face while i'm trying to steal a cat photo from the house:
