I'm not entirely sure. It started with me watching some J-Pop MVs on Youtube and their algorithm slipped some (japanese) K-Pop in there. If I remember correctly, Girl's Generations' "Taxi Taxi" was the MV that started it all. But it wasn't a conscious decision and K-POP was not that common outside Korea back then.
