Some feminists(not misandrists) are trying to take the word back from terfs and misandrists.

It also doesn't help public perception of feminism when you have conservatives using words like 'feminazi' to discredit the movement entirely and give people the impression that all feminists hate men. Thanks Rush Limaugh.

Admittedly there are some fringe parts of the movement that are in need of constant criticism(terfs in particular, misandrists). It unfortunate when extremists start trying to overtake a movement and start shoving bullshit into it, but it's not impossible to take it back. Just a lot of work and community effort from folks acting in good faith.

Thank you much for this! I really appreciate that you took the time write all of that out

I do have an old laptop I can use for learning on, don't know why it didn't occur to me to try linux on that first, but I'll definitely do that, follow your instructions and see how it goes.

I genuinely want to switch, just didn't have the confidence to actually try. Thank you again for the great advice! I gotta go dig out that old laptop.

Iirc lead poisoning isn't much of an issue because your body encapsulates it, preventing the body from absorbing it.

Metal detectors are a non issue. My dad has several pieces of metal in his spine from surgeries. He occasionally sets off metal detectors, but it's never been a huge issue with security. It's more common than you think. People have metal plates, screws and general hardware put in surgically for a variety of reasons. It's fairly common.

Not tech savy person here who's interested in switching to Linux but afraid of fucking it up and the one guy I knew in real life who used Linux and would've helped me out died during covid so I'm on my own.

My old computer won't support windows 11 and I'm not in a position to upgrade my hardware. I've been poking around trying learn about linux but I'm more of a hands on learner so basically I'm going to have to learn as I go which is quite scary for someone who's never even seen a computer running it.

My uncle's parrot he had for a really long time died because he put up some kind of new shades for his living room that off gassed something deadly to birds.

He knew about not using Teflon but not about window shades, or uv resistant plastic products off gassing being hazardous. He was devastated. Some of the shit sold to us is genuinely toxic. It's really messed up when you think about it.

You did the right thing.

Honestly, this weird dichotomy of "playing hard to get" and expecting the guy to make a move after being told no is in the process of dying, but it could go faster.

I often wonder how much slut shaming has to do with women who expect/want this sort of behavior from men. Does it make them feel like they aren't "responsible" for the sexual encounter if the guy is pushy, therefore they aren't a slut?

I've always wondered about it since I hated pushy dudes when I was still dating. My husband had excellent manners and etiquette, that's what initially attracted me to him, so this one is a mystery.

Maybe one day someone can figure it out and explain it to me.

We use this terminology in the warehouse I worked at to describe smaller orders that were part of a larger order. So you build all the child orders first, then assemble them into the larger parent order.

I wondered if it was ever used in other contexts.

Wonder how Kirk and weirdo conservatives feel about women who play video games a lot?

Do you think their heads would explode? What if they're voluntarily childless, have a cat, and play video games?

Oh, so he gets to be treated like the rest of us now....right?

If I stopped paying my mortgage, regardless of how bad off I may be, the bank is taking my house.

Guess he should've been more responsible, not eaten avocado toast, and saved more or whatever the fuck conservatives say to struggling millennials and younger folks.

When I was a kid and saw it(I'm old) it was called "bodies" or "the bodies exhibit." Didn't know they changed names since then, or if it was even a thing still tbh.
