If you try googling any of this, you will find a shit ton of christian cope

"Cope" is basically the foundation of most religions.

Mostly because 90% of what's in The Bible is gobblederemoved, twisted and contorted by a wide variety of opportunistic con men over the course of thousands of years, written in such a vague way as to easily be interpreted to mean whatever they want it to mean.

Similar to the way Trump speaks in vague generalities and word salad, and people hear whatever they want to hear, which of course leads to massive problems when you're the leader or aspiring leader of the free world.

Coming at him with a personal insult is not the way to go about this.

The correct way is to point out that most Christmas traditions are not rooted in Christianity, but in paganism.

That's the exact opposite of what most people want from an app like this.

I would absolutely love to see a revitalization on proxy software specifically designed to eliminate ads and tracking.

You're in luck because we already have several. Namely Piped and Invidious.

This is another wonderful piece of software from FOSS advocate FUTO.

Aside from another method to bypass YT ads, you can watch your favorite creators on a wide variety of platforms, all in a single app. No complicated configuration required like ReVanced. You can export your subscriptions list from Google via Google Takeout, or from FreeTube/LibreTube/New pipe etc. and when you open the file it should automatically open in GrayJay.

You can also perform cross-platform searches.

PeerTube does work but it uses the FUTO instance, which does not federate, so you can only watch/search FUTO videos. Some work is still needed in that area, but it's probably also the least popular platform sooo...

This is a paid app based on the honor system and currently only supports Stripe for payments. It's a 1-time $10 fee.

Futo also makes a casting app called FCast so you can cast videos from this app to your Android TV box after installation.

Why wait, do it now.

Because Linux is a giant pain in the ass for anyone who is not a software engineer.

Signal has Stories too

not sure about Telegram but you can very easily disable Stories on Signal

I quite like them though as, to my knowledge, it's the only form of private social media in existence at this point

I'm just thinking out loud here.

Steam Deck 2 is a long way away, and I think that's great. Giving developers a specific hardware target is crucial, and having consumers feel like they need to immediately upgrade is bad.

However, I think there is room for an advanced SD that's not necessarily "new" but just an external improvement over the existing model at a higher price tier for those looking for a premium experience.

Also I'm going to be nitpicking here, don't take that the wrong way, I love the SD but it does have some weak points.

So then Steam Deck LE would be identical to the current one with the exception of:

  • The screen. Wow this is probably the greatest weakness of the SD. A larger display with smaller bezels and better color accuracy would go a long way to improving the experience.

  • Hall Effect joysticks. Again, nitpicking here but it'd be nice to see a premium version with these included.

  • 1TB SSD. I originally bought the 64GB version thinking I would just use an SD card no problem. But the ridiculous amount of shader cache, the various Proton versions (~1GB each) and some other software like EmuDeck and Heroic, as well as the annoyance of moving things back and forth had me upgrading quickly to a 1TB, which immediately ended all of those concerns.

  • Different color ways. I'm partial to white but a transparent purple version would be nice to see also.

  • At least 1 more USB-C port... so we can do things like video out while charging.

What else would you like to see added?

Hi friends. I switched to Fedora and been using it for several months now. I am now using it 90% of the time but do occasionally have to boot into Windows.

I have run into a space limitation, so I want to reallocate some disk space from Windows to Fedora.

I was able to successfully unallocated space from the Windows partition but haven't been able to reallocate it to the Fedora partition.

Preferably using CLI as little as possible... 😫

Thanks in advance!

People doing the 'well actually' thing for individual climate impacts are inadvertently being patsies for corporations to continue to deflect scrutiny

No one is doing that. I could very easily just say that you're just doing the opposite. That is, deflecting personal responsibility from individuals and just blaming corporations. It's very easy to just lean back and blame corporations for your choices but the reality is that they simply couldn't sell this bullshit if individuals weren't buying them.

So encryption is dead in the UK?

Do they not realize there are messaging services that don't even have a central server or even an entity responsible?

Or companies that don't even have a presence in the UK, and thus no responsibility to comply with their laws?

Pedos will just download and install something like Keet or Signal or Session while the privacy and security of law-abiding citizens are irrevocably compromised...

Well it's really not that simple. I assume you're referring to things like climate change and privacy concerns and general de-evolution of government.

Just to boil down a very complex subject into a lazy comment:

Let's take climate change for instance. Do corporations and government do almost nothing to curb climate change? Yes. Do they actively lie to people about climate change? Yes.

Does the public still know that climate change is a real thing? At least some of them.

Do a ridiculous proportion of people still buy gas-guzzling SUVs and plastic water bottles and use plastic bags at the grocery store unnecessarily? Yes.

Do some people have full access to the information to educate themselves very quickly on the science, and yet choose to ignore that and instead actually actively promote what they want to believe instead? Absolutely

The reality is that "blame" is seldom simple and we all carry some amount of responsibility.

Personally I view this as a sliding scale. And while I do take personal responsibility in driving an efficient vehicle and refusing plastic bags and bottles (even though people look at me like some kind of crazy hippie and mock me accordingly), I also refuse to live in a yurt in the forest. When more people move down the scale toward me, it will make it easier for me to move even further down the scale.

You mean like USB-C?

[–] HughJanus@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 year ago (3 children)

So it got USB-C and replaced the vibrate switch with an "action" button.

Most iterative generation ever?

Yes, as I said, I can see the properties on the map but it will not find them when I search for them.

Tried to use OSMAnd last week to navigate around on vacation. For some reason it seems to be incapable of searching for house numbers, which is an instant dealbreaker. I'm very confused as to how or why this is a thing on such a mature product.

I was able to share a location from GMaps WV over to it to get navigation working, and from there the navigation was awesome!

Currently also testing Magic Earth and Organic Maps but I'm very interested to hear from those with more experience.
