Not sure if there's a list, but most Android based TVs can be cleaned and modded to some degree via ADB. If you can access the dev settings in android, chances are you can do a lot to make it better, strip out some google or branded packages, replace the launcher to block OS level ads etc. Projectivy usually works well since it supports input switching on many devices, but it's still better to do all of this to a separate box and then plug it into a TV that is firewalled/filtered/offline. more control and less to fuck up.

Rooting and unlocking bootloaders is more complex as these android devices dont have normal recovery systems and require a lot of custom drivers to make the video and audio processing work, so it's not worth going that far.

LCDs do tend to speak somewhat standardised languages, but there is a lot more to a modern TV than just an LCD controller.

Color and white balance calibration, image/motion processing, HDR Processing, backlight control/dimming zones, input management, audio decoding/encoding/passthrough, digitizing analogue sources, HDMI licencing, Dolby licencing, etc.

If you want a better smart TV the best thing to do is to get a hackable TV like most android based models, replace the launcher, strip out system apps and telemetry with ADB and start fresh, then either leave it offline or use filtering to only allow access to the services you approve.

There was a panasonic (I think it was them) that had a Displayport connection, but that didn't last.

I suspect HDMI threatened to cut their licence if they kept putting DP on the TVs.

It was about 18 months for me from seeing the fiber in the street to being able to get connected.

It will happen, just keep bugging your ISP for updates.

Round bun = Burger.

Regardless of the patty.

What's crazy is americans will eat a vege burger, a mushroom burger, pork, lamb, turkey patties etc.. all burgers. but as soon as you put fried chicken in it is suddenly becomes a sandwitch?

You're in Aus right? How are your speeds?

I currently use both NewsgroupNinja and NewsDemon combined but still cant get past about half a gig a second but it very well may be a limitation in my download server somewhere.

oh god I do this all the time, excessively, and have to rewrite emails and posts multiple times to get rid of them as much as possible. sometimes I'll be writing a parenthetical and need to nest others within it..

It's hard.

I started with a bunch of cloud connected expensive wifi devices that would have all sorts of issues on the consumer crap wifi router I had at the time.

The amount of money I spent on those devices would have been much, much better spent on something non IP based like zigbee or zwave devices with a hardwired hub.

These days I finally have a more pro grade network setup that handles all the Wi-Fi IOT devices I have just fine, but it could have been so, so much simpler.

it's when you format a link like this /c/community@instance, instead of the full url. Example Link so regardless of your particular server instance, that link will stay local, if the linked community is not yet synced (federated) it will 404 though, that will happen a lot for a the first few weeks of growing this service, particularly if you are on a smaller server that might be updating slower or is under strain.
