Lmao. I didn't even see the word "working". I just saw "I got". All good. I'll be checking it out. Thank you

Oh shoot, I thought it was your project. lol. Oh yeah, I'll just message the developer.

Oh nice. I like the name and the logo, too. Yeah, I'm fine messing with the terminal. I do it daily on purpose and avoid GUI so I can learn. If one wanted to make a gui for Heirloom, what would be the best approach? I think it would reach more people.

Awesome, thank you. Were you able to download the .exe file for it? I run my windows games through the heroic games launcher and when I redeemed the game it wanted me to install Amazon's games launcher and whatever so I just let it go

I like puzzles..... A lot, but it depends on the types of puzzles a game has. I'll check it out (if it works on linux of course lol). Thanks

For reasons unknown

Yup, that sounds like Linux. 😂

I don't know if they modified apt at all. I know they have their mint tools that call apt through some python code, like mintinstall = apt install <package> for the software manager and mintupgrade = apt upgrade for updating mint versions ... Etc

Lol. You're not alone. I've thought that for the longest time ever. Until one I had the question pop into my head and started searching it.

I have never played a game like this. Are they actually good? Fun?

apt is a newer, more user-friendly front-end for apt-get and apt-cache.

apt = combines commands like install, remove, update, upgrade into one tool, with prettier output

#apt-get = older, lower-level, more script-friendly For normal use, just use apt now. For scripting where 100% backward compatibility matters, use apt-get.

What a nice freaking touch, man. I really appreciate stuff like this.

It's kind of ironic to me that Linux is all for free and open source, but still uses a proprietary platform, and a horrible one at that. Before the fediverse, I'd understand, but now, there is no excuse whatsoever.

I understand that we can't just get up and leave everything proprietary behind all at once, since we have iPhones and Android phones. We all use proprietary software of some form, but I am of the mindset of using the least amount of proprietary possible.

I will ALWAYS look for FOSS first. I also want to make it as hard as possible for any corporation to track me. They'll probably still be able to track me, but I'm not going without a fight.

I could say the same about the Linux kernel using GitHub, but I understand how massive of an undertaking it would be to move the whole kernel to another platform. I'm sure there are other factors, too. Anyway, I just wanted to start a discussion and hear people's thoughts.
Thank you

This is going to be nice. Good first step.

I think it is confusing and not sorted correctly. There are categories in Window Managment>Desktop Effects:

  1. Accessibility

  2. Appearance: This has things I don't think even reflect the title of the category. And why does it have minimize and restore windows animations? Shouldn't those have their own? It also has the "Fall Apart" animation. Shouldn't that belong to the "Window Open/Close Animation"? When applied, it overrides whatever you choose in "Window Open/Close Animation". I'm a bit confused. Bottom line, this one has a variety of things, not only appearance things.

  3. Focus

  4. Peak at Desktop Animation

  5. Tools

  6. Virtual Desktop Switching Animation

  7. Window Management

  8. Window Open/Close Animation

Could very well be my rusty English, I don't know. Am I the only who thinks that this section of the settings is kind of mixing many things?

For me, it's King's "Fairy Tale". I think it would make a great movie. Here is to hoping that Hollywood hears my prayers. Lol

This just warms my heart. The year of the Linux desktop isn't here, but the decade of it is.

Hi all, Relatively long time Linux user (2017 to be precise), and about two 3rds of that time has been on Arch and its derivatives.

Been running Endeavour OS for at least 2.5 years now. It's a solid distro until it's not. I'd go for months without a single issue then an update comes out of nowhere and just ruins everything to either no return, or just causes me to chase after a fix for hours, and sometimes days. I'm kinda getting tired of this trend of sudden and uncalled for issues.

It's like a hammer drops on you without you seeing it. I wish they were smaller issues, no, they're always major. Most of the time I'd just reinstall, and I hate that. It's so much work for me.

I set things the way I like them and then they're ruined, and the hunt begins. I have been wanting to switch for a long time, and I honestly have even been looking into some of those immutable distros (that's how much I don't want to be fixing my system.

I'm tired, I just want to use my system to get work done). I was also told that Nobara is really good (is it? Never tried it). My only hold back — and it's probably silly to some of you— is the AUR. I love it.

It's the most convenient thing ever, and possibly the main reason why I have stuck with Arch and its kids. Everything is there.

So, what do y'all recommend? I was once told by some kind soul to use an immutable distro and setup "distrobox" on it if I wanted the AUR.

I've never tried this "distrobox" thing (I can research it, no problem). I also game here and there and would like to squeeze as much performance as I can out of my PC (all AMD, BTW, and I only play single player games).

So, I don't know what to do. I need y'all's suggestions, please. I'll aggregate all of the suggestions and go through them and (hopefully) come up with something good for my sanity. Please suggest anything you think fits my situation. I don't care, I will 100% appreciate every single suggestion and look into it.

I'm planning to take it slow on the switch, and do a lot of research before switching. Unless my system shits the bed more than now then I don't know. I currently can't upgrade my system, as I wouldn't be able to log in after the update. It just fails to log in.

I had to restore a 10 days old snapshot to be able to get back into my damn desktop. I have already copied my whole home directory into another drive I have on my PC, so if shit hits the fan, I'll at least have my data. Help a tired brother out, please <3. Thank you so much in advance.
