Unfortunately it's two different crowds. The top price is what your average person sees, the bottom prices are what billionaires looking to launder money into the Trump campaign see

Discord is 1000x worse because entire communities have taken to moving onto there. It's like the one thing that's worse than moving everything to Reddit: people using a fancy chat service like a forum. Everything from hardware to games seems to have most of the community on Discord; incredibly unhelpful if I'm trying to troubleshoot something.

I seriously doubt going to the center wins any votes in the general. The type of people who think conservative policy is good for society are gonna vote Republican no matter how stupid and fascist it is. "Shifting right wins over never Trumpers" is a line that works on people during the primary when everyone is on the left anyway, but in the end it's an excuse to more deeply entrench the oligarchy and it turns off people who need something to be excited about in order to bother coming out for the general. Like, I can't imagine young voters were happy to hear Harris at the debate talking about how she's going to expand oil drilling.

Biden won because leftists were energized about getting Trump out of office, not because centrism won over conservatives. In fact, I think the centrism is why he was projected to lose this year! His presidency went fine considering the senate, but fact is he didn't do a whole lot to get people interested. Gaffes and age notwithstanding, even a perfect public speaker wouldn't have had much to work with. That's why the switch to Harris got the poll numbers moving: it was a big move that got people engaged. But I firmly believe every move she makes to the center is doing more to turn off leftist voters than it is wresting people from the right.

So what if the clock says 4:30 am? It's the same time in that you're working the same daylight. All removing it would do for you is change the number on your clock, but for the people who work on set schedules it would change our needing to fuck with our sleep schedules twice a year

My desire to avoid media made by assholes has less to do with capitalism and the fact the artist could make money off my attention (though that is part of it), and more to do with wanting to avoid giving them a platform. If someone like Roman Polanski is making great movies and I'm going around telling everyone what incredible art he's making, people are more likely to overlook or even excuse his actions because he's a great artist. Sure, it's worse in a consumerist society because then famous artists also have more money defend themselves, but that shield of public opinion exists in any society. Well, any that has people that like art, anyway. People find it easy to make excuses for those they idolize.
