How are political communities tiny when they are 2 of the 6 most active communities on Lemmy?

To be honest, the issue is mostly about !politics@lemmy.world banning self posts (and thus people having to find alternatives such as !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world ) rather than the mods of !asklemmy@lemmy.world

Hello,

This post gives a summary of the issues people have with overcentralization of users and communities on LW: https://lemmy.world/post/14728407

This is a meme but with some technical explanations why instances like aussie.zone have a 7-days delay with LW, but are up-to-date with all the other instances: https://lemmy.world/post/20575394

You are able to export your subscriptions and block lists to a new account using your settings (there is an export/import function). You cannot import your posts and comments, but if you use the same username and add your old account in your bio you can still show your past posts that way.

As I stated in another comment, lemm.ee and lemmy.zip are generic and well managed, so I would say one of those two.

I just created two posts over there, one over the likelihood of project 2025 to happen, and the other one about people actually considering leaving the USA. Feel free to join the discussion

That's good to hear, thanks! Regarding the instance, would you have a preference? I know you have currently on programming.dev, but based on !meta!meta@programming.dev, they seem to have a few issues lately (corrupted database), so I'm not sure I would like to host the community over there

Sorry to hear. That must be very stressful.

This post is likely to get removed due to the pinned post banning self posts.

You can probably repost this on !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world

Hello,

Is it fair to redirect people to !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world where self-posts are allowed?

Also, would you be interested in modding an Ask community elsewhere, or do you have enough on your plate with the LW one?
