I'm fine with the basic idea (even though I don't like ads), but here are some concerns that either weren't adressed or didn't have a proposed solution:

  • Logistics: How many users are there that make significant contributions to the wiki? Is it plausible to do this as a solo dev?
  • Article Quality: As mentioned in the post, there is the risk of people spamming low quality articles for money. What is the solution here? Maybe a fixed amount for bigger contributors, but who falls into that category? Again: Logistics.
  • Trust: Since it was promised there won't be ads on the wiki, people may not react positively to this announcement, which might possibly be hurting the wiki. To be fair here, the process seems to be very transparent, though a forum to discuss about this would be nice, rather than just e-mail.

Some of the things you can do are so evil I wouldn't even do them for an achievement.

Don't really follow any big communities here (except for this one), just smaller ones specific to my personal interests.

Steam (reverse?) in-home game streaming over unRAID. Worth the trouble? (lemm.ee)
 

My setup: I have a PC (Linux) that I also use for gaming, but I want to connect it to a TV that's in a different room. Now, I know I could just get something like a Shield TV or Apple TV and use Moonlight and be done, but I'd have to buy that.

Since I also have a server that's basically right next to the TV, I was thinking I might be able to (a) stream steam games from my PC to my server (and then connect to the TV) and (b) send the input signals of my peripherals to my PC. I have two controllers, a Bluetooth one and one with a USB dongle. It would be nice to connect both, but that's really not a priority for a start.

Asking here because I'm new to unRAID and was hoping someone has experience with game streaming and can tell me if this would work and is worth it, or whether I should just buy a dedicated device for this. In the second case, do you have recommendations?

Natürlich sind die Modelle nicht grundsätzlich schlecht oder „böse“ (Editierung: oder Diebstahl nach deutschem Recht. Wir können es auch anders nennen, das ist aber m.M.n. nicht wirklich relevant). Es geht geht eher darum, dass sie sehr stark auf Kunstwerken basieren, bei denen die Künstler explizit gegen diese Verwendung sind ihrer Werke sind. Dazu kommt noch der aktuelle Trend in der Industrie, dass Jobs gestrichen werden, da generative KI das ja günstiger genauso gut könne. Diese beiden Punkte kombiniert sind eben einfach scheiße. Wahrscheinlich sieht das Ganze in ein paar Jahren dann auch anders aus, wenn die Technik-Brudis hoffentlich endlich das Interesse verloren haben und Firmen den Wert von menschlicher kreativer Arbeit etwas mehr verstanden haben.
