that guy aint gonna do anything with that 50 cal. the amount of time and effort he has to go thru to be able to use that against you effectively is too much considering how close you are to him. mess up the belt right near the firearm and he might be able to get 1-2 shots off at most if he even gets a chance to. additionally, he would have to rack it unless he's insane enough to be driving around with that thing already racked without anyone manning it.

basically, this guy is prolly the least threatening guy out there because he's so over the top with threatening others; he did a loop back to the other end of the continuum. like they say in Cuba, "a dog that barks does not bite." to me, this guy is saying, "if there is any sort of violent altercation coming, kill me first."

That's 16 shots to whomever loses. No joke, I'd be drunk for 2 days if I had that many.

[–] BackOnMyBS@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Image: Brain before sleep meme of 4 panels.

Panel 1 is brain saying: We spent a lot of energy not thinking about all the texts, emails, and missed calls you haven't responded to.

Panel 2 is girl in bed with eyes closed saying: Yeah, I'm super tired. Better get some rest so I can try to respond tomorrow.

Panel 3 is brain responding: But no one expects you to respond this late, so now's the perfect time to watch a documentary and go down Wikipedia rabbit holes.

Panel 4 is the girl with her eyes completely wide open.

Anyone else just absolutely love the night time when the world is asleep, it's dark and cool, you've showered, on the couch under the comfiest blanket, and you know no one is going to interrupt or expect anything from you?

Background: I'm taking my first real art class tomorrow. It's a drawing class at a local art school. I was at my friend's house this evening when he was putting his daughter to sleep, so I got excited and started painting with the watercolor set she left out in the living room. I painted this eye from memory on the spot, so it's truly my first real watercolor piece. I'm really happy with it. 😁

That one looks cool! GPS receiver makes it interesting compared to the pine time.

We know that we behave and think differently. We generally have more difficulty with social situation and are hypersensitive to sensory input. But to me, these seem like impacts of a fundamental difference. For example, we have social difficulties in NT environments because something with our neurotype is different. What is that fundamental difference that manifests into the symptoms of autism?

So far, my best guess is that we don't have the filter that NTs have with sensory input. They can decide what sensory information to focus on, allowing them to process information they see as important in real time. Additionally, they seem to be better able to multitask. For us, since we don't have that filter and multi-core processor, it takes us longer to process sensory input.

The other thing is that since we are more sensitive to sensory stimuli, we can get overwhelmed much easier, which limits our ability to process the info.

These two together make it so that social situations are difficult to navigate. There's wayy to much information to process in real time for us, so we end up missing a lot of the communication that is going on. For example, a person will send a nonverbal cue of some sort, but since we're still focused on what they said and processing all the other surrounding stimuli, we miss it. Maybe much later, when alone and reviewing the interaction or discussing it with a friend, we might finally get to the nonverbal cue and realize we missed it.

What do you guys think? Am I on track? Are there other fundamental differences between neurotypes?

Sorry for another “Is this autism or normal human behavior?” Post.

I don't think you have to apologize for this. Seeking support with these situations is one of the reasons this community exists. It's even explicitly stated in the sidebar under encouraged:

  1. Questions regarding autism.
  1. Seeking and sharing support.

Ask away!

Believe it or not, I used a mouse to create this.

I know not everyone of us has a special talent, but many of us do. Some are just incredible. So, what are they??

Edit: Please don't be humble. Let it out. Be proud of it and share so we can marvel.

Thank you! The way I'm handling it now is that if I were in a similar situation like yours with your friend, I would just distance myself from them. If we were together and they started making me feel bad, I would just leave. I don't need to endure emotional distress because someone else is rude to me. I can just leave.

If I have my browser maximized in my center monitor, whenever I go to search on Lemmy or go to my inbox and it is empty, the screen goes completely blank/black. It looks as if it lost power. If the browser is not maximized, it wont happen. This happens whether I use Chrome or Firefox. Any ideas on how to start troubleshooting?

  • OS: KDE Neon 6.0
  • KDE PLasma: 6.0.2 (happened with KDE 5.x too)
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
  • Monitor messing up in connnected to the HDMI port.
  • Other two monitors are connected (a) to the DisplayPort and (b) DVI-D
