When someone walks over a certain part of the loft floor, all the smoke alarms in the house beep (lemmy.world)
 

Honestly I am so bloody baffled by this.

I removed the smoke alarm that would be affected by vibration from the loft floor (which was in the room directly underneath), but the other alarms still go off when someone walks up there (they're all wired together, so when one goes off they all go off). I removed the one that's in the loft too, but it still happens.

I have no fecking idea what else to do ๐Ÿ˜… should we go in under the loft floor to have a look, or into the ceiling underneath the loft floor? Any suggestions for what to look for? Should I be concerned that vibration is affecting wiring? Is it spooky ghosts?

I'm not sure which of all the potential scenarios they could be in are the worst.

Floating on the surface, seeing the hope of survival through the window whilst being able to do nothing about it; trapped on the ocean floor being able to see nothing but each breath; or the sinister creaking that forewarns sudden breach and implosion.

I'm just going to tell myself they've all turned pirate and made for the Carribbean. No tragedy here! No sireeee.

As much as I appreciate all that (vintage) Star Trek was trying to do, handling of a lot of women's issues were problematic or nonexistent. in c/startrek@startrek.website

I always thought the Ferengi attitude towards women was meant to be an extreme parody of existing attitudes, to demonstrate how ludicrous they are.
