The biggest issue with Mozilla if they didn't decide to put some form of AI stuff in Firefox is that their competitors could use it as ammunition to fuel an as campaign painting Firefox as not only out of touch and outdated, but less secure because they don't have AI security.

I can guarantee if average person, like my middle aged parents who aren't very tech savvy, saw an ad pointing that out (no matter how untrue it is) I'd be told about it the next chance they got, proving they believe it.

They have to keep up with what their competitors are doing or get left behind and die a slow and painful death. AI is just the latest trend to be added, and Mozilla is just trying to keep up to ensure whatever remainder of normies still use Firefox don't decide to abandon ship.

I personally don't like it, but what other options are there?

Sadly the only people who would switch over to an actual Linux phone would be the people like the stereotypical Linux using Lemmy user. The average android user would just continue on like nothing happened because they're not tech literate enough to know what's going on or why they should care.

Got back into my New Vegas run. I have a good feeling that some time within the next few centuries I might even finish the game for the first time in my life.

Nothing against the game so far but kinda how I feel after playing a short amount of time in a cheap furry VN I got on steam. Not enough character portrait things.

Can't wait for people to find out they just programmed the AI to reject all claims and then once it gets discovered, that person be silenced permanently.

That's the exact reason I have only bought budget phones. That, and they actually have a sim/sd card slot.

And just like every other time, it's China promising to work with the US while crossing their fingers behind their back and the US coming out of it for the n-th time thinking "they're finally gonna listen to us".

Nothing ever changes if open dialogue is your main choice of weapon.

This is one of the absolute greatest reasons to support opening most everything in a new tab (as long as you don't end up like my mom who at one point had over 100 tabs on her phone). Doesn't matter if it's a link from the same website, from a search engine, or whatever else there is. New tab.

Definitely gonna start looking there.

Sounds like something I'll have to look into before the takedown.

Edit:

Sounds like something I might have to "demo" in the future.

Pre mid-summer 2011 and post mid-summer 2011.

This was before and after my 2nd open heart surgery. My parents had to make a quick decision: replace a valve with either a pig or mechanical valve. They chose mechanical valve and now I've been taking blood thinners and doing yearly blood draws for nearly 1 and a half devades. That was a barely more than half my life ago at this point, which is absolutely crazy to think about.

Edit: thought about it for a second while reading my post. Airtle less than half my life ago. Words are confusing.

Nothing special for me. Doing an okay job at the whole college thing, getting ever so slightly better at the whole socializing and not getting anxious thing (though you'd never guess I've made slight improvements with how minimal the gains are in terms of noticeability), and in general life is fairly decent so long as I have access to a computer or phone for music or other entertainment when I've got nothing else going on.

Item was $4.50 for a used CD and checkout surprised me with this incredible deal! How could I say no to adding $99.99 on to the total?!?! /s

Mostly asking because I've never used these before due to never needing to. That, and I have a few old disc based PC games that I'd love to be able to straight up boot without the game disc. These are games I could just pirate, but I figure I already own them in disc, so I'd rather see if there are any reputable places with no-disc patches. The places I've looked in the megathread don't have what I'm looking for.

Closest they have is either a link to the game on another platform in the case of My Abandonware due to it being sold, or a link to just straight up pirate the full thing in the case of Magipack Games. I've also done some digging on the Internet Archive but have yet to yield results (probably because I suck at finding things there). Still gonna keep looking there, but any helpful info would be much appreciated.

I don't think I can share the game names, even in DM, due to the rules here, so site mainpages are my best shot.

I've never ripped CDs or DVDs before for any reason and am curious how this works since I have some stuff I wanna see about backing up but am nervous about ruining the disc. I've tried looking this up, but every time I do, I obviously am searching for the wrong thing because I have never found the info I'm looking for.

Got a copy of Borderlands (EU iso) from the r/ROMS megathread and found out there is securom verification (which I have absolutely no experience with) as part of the installation process.

Closest I have found to a solution to bypass so far after some brief searching was one "Generic Securom 7/8 by Virusek" off of the "LOSTFILESARCHIVE" github page, which leads to a 404 page (even on the wayback machine).

Are there any programs or patches you would recommend to bypass this god awful drm?
