How about you finish the projects you already started on your existing concourses, before you start a new concourse?

I'm still holding out for Mozilla. They've gone all "corporate" lately, but they weren't always that way. Ladybird does look like a good project.

For now, that's possible. But for how long? When mv2 came out, we had a few hold off as long as they could, but now they're all v2 or v3. New technology will always kill the old, whether or not it's better. It's only a matter of time. Going with a browser that has consistently made anticonsumer decisions because a different browser has made a few, doesn't seem like the sensible choice here. Granted, we should have a browser that hadn't made any such decisions, but we don't yet have one that I'm aware (I hope I'm wrong).

otherwise a privacy respecting Chromium browser

With manifest v3 and this thing active on chromium browsers, privacy respecting chromium may not exist.

Did the cow accept their invitation?

That's fine. If your risk posture allows you to do that, then great. Mine doesn't. I will give them as much water as they need, food if they need, even a change of clothes and a coolrag. They can chill in my yard under the shade of whatever trees they want. They can use my hose to cool off, wash, whatever. But, they're not coming in my home. [and they need to leave before that evening's up].

E: correct autocorrect

E2: this is a coolrag

Don't know where you're at, but where I am, I have no legal obligation to help anyone trespassing on my property. That said, I would call the cops, so they can help him. While they may not be great at this, it's their job (not mine), and I'm not risking my life. Maybe he's honest in his needs. Maybe he's not, and his intentions are nefarious. Do you know? I don't, and I'm not willing to risk my life finding out.

I mean, have you met people?

I mean... I try not to

Of course. Same here. But those videos would work on any network, not just Google's. The reasons they're there are plenty, and I won't pretend to know them all. However yt started as an entertainment space, and shifted into other spaces. What I'm proposing, is that we can have those spaces elsewhere, but we need to start somewhere. The easiest way to get people to start doing something, is by making it entertaining.

You're right, but I never said perfect. Perfect doesn't exist. I'm looking for reasonable and sustainable. Projects like framework and libreboot are making this possible for the first time in history. But, like you eluded to, they, too, won't be perfect.

Has NewPipe v0.27.0 stopped working for anyone else? It won't play anymore. It loads the video page and comments, but throws an error when attempting to play or download the video. I've submitted an error report, but was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

Edit: thank you, everyone! I figured it was google being a giant turd again, but want sure, since it worked perfectly fine for me yesterday, and I didn't see anything pop up on Lemmy yet. I understand the logistical and costing nightmare of this, but we really need a FOSS decentralized video sharing platform to take hold and take off. Let google and other bigturdtech die where they made their beds.

Update: newpipe 0.27.1 was just released, which fixes this deliberately google-caused issue. As I understand, some other frontends implemented their own fixes, too. These teams are amazing!

OC for you.

When you call the new sexy emergency services, but are connected with an unknown country instead, you do the next logical thing… you send an email.

Picture's not coming through. I'll try an embedded one...

Just found this sub, and I see it's not active anymore :(

Let's change that!

I though it could be fun to list our least favorite roasts from the past week, maybe with a description on why you disliked it. This way we could round out the "what are you brewing" posts with a sort of "I won't be brewing that again" type of end cap.

Personally, I find it fun sometimes to try the black sheep. After all, my least favorite could be your favorite.

Feel free to downvote the post if you don't think this would benefit the community. If we get to an overall point value in the negatives, I will unpin the post and we can move forward with it in the rearview.

Edit: I'm going to extend the contest to mid-Aug to give time for the newest Reddit refugees to participate.

The original icon from r/espresso is great.

However, I thought that we can customize this community's icon every so often with a little contest.

Here are the rules:

  1. This goes without saying, but be kind.

  2. You should be subscribed. After all, it should to be your community, if you're going to affect it.

  3. The image you submit needs to be your OC. It doesn't have to be a shot you pulled, but it does need to be a picture you took.

  4. [edit] Sign the picture on one of the corners or anywhere else that doesn't "take away" from the image[, if you want to. If you don't, I'll sign it for you before we use it. If you'd rather not display your username on the picture, let me know in the post, and I won't use it. Sorry for the poor foresight with this very basic privacy thing. That's my bad.]

  5. Post your submission as a comment.

  6. Upvote your 2-3 favorite(s) and downvote your one least favorite.

Let's give it ~~30 days?~~ to mid-August. At the end, the image with the highest votes will become the new community icon until the next contest.

Have fun!

The Reddit exodus caused by this regrettable API policy change that kills 3rd party apps, has left many of us without the subs we grew to love. r/espresso is one of these subs for me, but it wasn't on Lemmy. I created this community in the hopes that we'll get a Lemmy c/espresso going strong.

I'll get the ball rolling with a Moss Original haha. I haven't been able to pull my morning shots the past few mornings, but I'll either post tomorrow's morning shot (hopefully) or my afternoon espresso macchiato.

Here's for a new beginning to an old community!
