Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Yes they do. Every living thing does. Even plants do in their own way.

I keep Fish, shrimp, snails, and isopods and they all do too. Fish and shrimp actually poop quite a lot, especially the latter. I don't think I could ever eat shrimp after seeing how many turds those things produce.

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Its why they call it a vain not what it really is a poop tube in shrimp

There are face mites that also don't poop. Their lifes are so short that simple holding it in till they're dead is easier

Who better to answer this question than TheFeatureCreature?

Adult mayflies don’t, they don’t even have a digestive system or even mouth. They just reproduce and die.

Sponges, IIRC don’t have organs, hence no anuses. Can their excretions be called poop?

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Die because they can't shit!

https://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2017/07/do-trees-poop/

I started quoting relevant parts but there's so many different ways they get rid of waste that it got silly.

In a nutshell (lol): sap, leaves, petals, fruit, dead wood inside the tree, and root excretions are all kind of tree poop in their own ways.

You know who else likes to poop?

[–] Glory_of_Fire@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Can I steal this? I’m going to regardless but I wanted to be polite first. ;p

counterpoint: nobody poops but you

[–] rikudou@lemmings.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Counterpoint: I'm literally pooping right now and I'm not the person you replied to.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Counter counter point.......I'm watching you make stew!!!

That article is really fuzzing up the definition of "poop," I'd argue over half those entries are just how the thing poops weirdly. I guess if you get into semantics it may be technically true but I just consider pooping to be eliminating bodily waste so to me that whole article is like, "look how oddly these things poop." 😅

Spider poop is called frass and it is often used to reinforce their webs (usually wet droplets).

Iirc hunting spiders tend to excrete more often dry pellets but may be misremembering.

[–] dpflug@kbin.earth 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I have been pooped on by a spider.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 3 points 1 month ago

If you have ever got tangled in a cobweb, then yes.

[–] ghostrider2112@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What do you think spider web is? Just kidding, it’s not poop. I think.

[–] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

First spider with sticky poop:

Oh god it's everywhere!

Hey wait a minute...

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You think right: silk comes from the spinnerets, however they do use frass (poo) to improve their cobwebs.

[–] ghostrider2112@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

lol…nice. thanks for the info and for teaching me a new word for poo.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sure! Frass can be used for most insect excreta, but saying that someone's full of frass sounds just right.

Maybe also a phrase like: "If you touch the cobwebs, you'll get the frass"

[–] ghostrider2112@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

lol..nice. is that why cobwebs smell so musty? I used to just think they held onto the smells from the environment. now, i think it must be 💩
