Honest question: What's the point of putting the most cutting-edge lithography chip, into a smartphone? What apps or functions are people using these days that would need all that cpu power? Sure it slightly improves power consumption for the device, but is it worth it?

It's probably a mix of better battery life (honestly a huge selling point) and better GPU performance (I suspect this is not that critical for iOS if we look at the bigger picture).
