By all accounts it doesn't make sense.

David Spade's best movie that doesn't have Chris Farley in it.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Not sure you need that second half

Personally I rank Tommy Boy a little higher than Emperor's New Groove.

[–] M1nds3nd@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Agreed but I consider Chris Farley to be the main character in Tommy boy and David Spade the main character in Emperor's New Groove.

I see them being true costars like Abbott and Costello or Laurel and Hardy. Farley would not have been nearly as funny without Spade there as a foil.

Absolutely. That's part of why Farley's death is so tragic. One half of a great duo was lost.

Same thing happened to the film Muholland Drive. It was supposed to be a tv show, and David Lynch took the footage did a couple of reshoots and made an epic movie out of it.

Now I'm feeling really uncultured for not having seen this.

It's easily the funniest Disney movie, and honestly, it's one of the funniest movies period.
