Was the crash actually boeing's fault? Or was it overworked pilots flying during dangerous sleep deprived hours?

Sure, but I'm not aware of any endemic mistakes or cut-corners Boeing made with that 737 that would be even partially responsible for this incident. This wasn't a 737-MAX software issue, for example.
