They can form their own Blackwater and charge gazilion dollars to operate in the same places as they were before

The ideological score here must be worth more to Trump than the strength of America's military, already hurting for new recruits, which says a lot and frankly scares the fuck out of me

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 44 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

Weakening the USA's defenses seems to be a consistent theme with Trump.

[–] lychee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 4 hours ago

I think this signals the beginning of a very tough era for trans people more than it does anything about national security. But we shall see

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Elon will supply robot troops for the clone war.

[–] sneaky@r.nf 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Might supply them for the other side.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 2 points 49 minutes ago

Both sides. Like Ford.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 15 points 4 hours ago

Yikes. Not a good decision.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 14 points 5 hours ago

Would love to see him personally try to kick even one of them out of anything. Pathetic piece of shit.

[–] QuincyPeck@lemmy.world 170 points 9 hours ago (4 children)

Just going to completely wreck US cybersecurity defense.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 55 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

It has long been said that if all the furries and catgirls disappeared it would cause the internet to collapse overnight.

[–] Today@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

What's a catgirl? Is there a signup for that?

[–] lychee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

No only a test and you just passed. Congrats

[–] emax_gomax@lemmy.world 9 points 4 hours ago

Cat ears and tail will be emailed to you. Congratulations recruit. Don't ask how we know where you live :-P.

[–] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 65 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Coding socks are the new contraband.

[–] littlewonder@lemmy.world 22 points 8 hours ago

I love/hate that I get all these references lol

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 44 points 9 hours ago

It's part of the plan. fucking traitor.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Pfft, that shits been contracted out for years (honestly understandable, hard to have consistent network defense with a constantly rotating (deploying) workforce of active duty military)

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

They don't exactly deploy cyber security soldiers to do combat patrols. They're doing the same job whether they're in D.C. or Berlin.

[–] HexadecimalSky@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago

Lots of IT still in the military also some of the "contract out" is done by reservist and is tied to their military contract. Those still in military are your tier 3 IT and admin.

[–] nicomachus@programming.dev 32 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

You think with the recruiting problems we have you'd do your best to retain the people we have.

If you can get through basic and fulfill your tasks you should be able to be in the military. If the government doesn't want to pay for "gender affirming care" that's fine. But these people should still be allowed in the military.

Also, what kind of discharge are these people getting? Honorable, General, Dishonorable?

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Elsewhere somebody said Medical, don't have a source myself.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

It said it in this article.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

This is the internet, I read headlines and comment sections, not articles! /s

[–] Cephalotrocity@biglemmowski.win 156 points 10 hours ago (2 children)
[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 hours ago

I mean... They've only been allowed quite recently..

[–] whithom@discuss.online 15 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

And still, we let him live.

[–] kozy138@slrpnk.net 10 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

A couple of people have tried to go back in time to kill him, but were unsuccessful.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 14 points 6 hours ago

They will always be unsuccessful in this timeline. Maybe they managed it in others.

[–] whithom@discuss.online 2 points 5 hours ago

Unsuccessful at killing him or going back in time?

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 58 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Then place them in internment camps. We know where this is going you damn Nazi.

[–] auzy@lemmy.world 41 points 8 hours ago

He's already completed the first step, by making them seem inhuman and criminal

Which is ironic, because he's the one who boasted about perving on kids

[–] angstylittlecatboy@reddthat.com 2 points 4 hours ago

Blackjack and hookers.

[–] gnomesaiyan@lemmy.world 26 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I hope he chokes on a Happy Meal.

[–] undercrust@lemmy.ca 16 points 8 hours ago

The happiest meal

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 38 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Here we go folks, welcome to the hellscape that is the new America

[–] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 2 points 16 minutes ago

Honestly, it was a hellscape before, we just shifted down a level deeper.

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 28 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

An easy to get general discharge from the military? I think lots of people with years left to serve are going to enjoy leaving early with all of their benefits.

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 48 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I have a feeling most of the benefits will be going out the door behind them shortly thereafter.

[–] emax_gomax@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

I have to hope their contractually obligated to provide them. If not I'd look forward to the class action suite but then again the judges are openly corrupt. America is a clusterf*ck right now.

[–] Ithral@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

Fun fact, when you join you waive your right to sue the military. Might be able to sue the VA or parts of the government though.

[–] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 hours ago

Laws don't matter to Orange Julius, I doubt contracts do either.

I hope I'm wrong for a lot of people's sake tho.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 18 points 9 hours ago

Welcome to the legion, 15,000 new anons.

[–] narr1@lemmy.world 29 points 10 hours ago

How to create government jobs, while also remaining a christofascist overlord. Just like old times, eh?

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 11 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe we’ll finally see strict gun laws, albeit aimed at disarming the opposing populous.

[–] Pistcow@lemm.ee 22 points 9 hours ago

Ooor, we create a well regulated militia with 15,000 new soldiers!
