I think they all make it difficult to post links to alternatives. Plus I don't want to.
Try making your community on other instances and cross posting everything. It took me a long while to realize I was defaulted to Local when I wanted All browsing. Maybe there are more like me out there.

I don't have an answer for you I just want to express that hopefully your group doesn't get overrun by exceedingly not dull stuff like the Facebook group did. The one-upmanship just got annoying and I eventually blocked it.
