It actually was precisely the plan - conspiracy theories are sown by the establishment to deflect from itself and shift blame elsewhere, so they can get away with whatever they want to and still maintain power.

Qanon was about deflecting "the most rich and powerful in society get away with trafficking, rape, and murder" to "liberals get away with trafficking, rape, and murder". In the same way that "the economy is controlled by a small group of rich and powerful capitalists" is deflected to "the economy is controlled by Jews", and "abusive men in positions of power groom children" to "drag queens groom children".

It's one way to manufacture consent, and it works.

I'm really starting to doubt Hanlon's Razor lately.

[–] kinsnik@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Why? Selecting Gaetz as AG can't be attributed to stupidity. Hanlon's razor doesn't say that malice doesn't exist

[–] A7thStone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've doubted it for awhile. It's been used as a tool to deflect for some time.

Imagine using Hanlon's razor when dealing with any sort of spam you get.

You'd be broke within an hour.

And they got the majority of the population to back their quest. Unreal.

Majority of voters =/= majority of population

Edit: Correction, Majority of voters who casted a valid ballot.

[–] skvlp@lemm.ee 6 points 1 week ago

That is true, and a good point. Thanks :)

Past tense of cast is cast, unless you're talking about making a plaster mold

Majority of voting-able population.

Non-voters are excused, abstained are fully complicit.

[–] ReCursing@lemmings.world 1 points 1 week ago

They got the majority of the votes are screaming about electoral fraud, and everything they say is a projection, so...

Hey don't give up yet maybe some of the supreme court will retire and Trump can bring a pedophile to the top justice position in the land.

Always were. Rapists, pedophiles, and human traffickers.

Every accusation was a confession.

This got me to exhale forcefully, and the corners of my mouth crept up slightly. Which in these days of horror and darkness is something.

It isn't "The Onion Now Owns InfoWars" hilarious, but it's funny.

And the tiny possibility he won't be approved is ... interesting.

Kakistocracy: is it better or worse than having competent fascists in charge?

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago

When every accusation is a confession, yes.

[–] SeattleRain@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

He's a good pick for AG because he knows all the traffickers moves!

Donald's admin to order the 'cellar special' would be nothing surprising.
