Who lives in a ᵀᶦⁿʸ pineapple under the sea?
Maybe the pineapple is normal sized, but the leaves are positively gargantuan.
Dude, that's some amazing job, specially given the conditions.
Don't feel discouraged by the size - the next generation will be probably larger, since you got a really large crown. I think that they try to reduce crown size for commercially grown ones, dunno, but the second gen is typically better.
Fertilisation also plays a huge role on fruit size - as the plant is young you want to give it lots of nitrogen, but as it starts blooming shift the focus to potassium and phosphor. (I do this all the time with peppers.)

Thank you! I was very excited to be able to successfully grow a pineapple plant indoors in a window that faces northeast. I wish I had a house with the ability to grow things in ideal conditions so being able to succeed with limited resources makes me very happy.
It's also impressive you kept a pot plant alive for 5 years! I hope to manage that some day.
Is that how it works? The fruit can regenerate from the head? Bcos I just cut up a pineapple for munchies.
Yes! I originally cut the top off of a store bought pineapple and planted it and then after many years it grew a new pineapple fruit. The new pineapple is much smaller but the head on this baby is pretty large and healthy.
Was just gonna say - it's disproportionate, but very cute! How large does the plant get, and can it be done indoors?
This is a pic of the window it has lived in for the last 5 years. I’d say it’s about 30 inches wide. My friend has one that is a decent amount larger but he has had it outside in the summer and in a larger pot. Mine has been confined to a smaller pot and treated like a succulent because I just assumed that it would grow the same way for whatever reason by being root bound and stressed a little with infrequent watering.
