Summary

Rudy Giuliani appeared at a Florida polling station in a Mercedes convertible that a court ordered him to surrender as part of a $148 million defamation settlement with two Georgia poll workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, whom he falsely accused of election fraud.

Giuliani has reportedly been evasive about the whereabouts of his assets, including items from his $5 million Manhattan apartment, New York Yankees memorabilia, and luxury watches, despite a court order to hand them over.

Giuliani’s attorney denied the allegations, claiming Giuliani was unaware of how to deliver the assets.

We could have had funniest moment of the year if authorities seized his Mercedes while he was voting.

[–] Squorlple@lemmy.world 94 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

Funnier than Giuliani getting served indictment papers at his own birthday party?

[–] dalekcaan@lemm.ee 50 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

I think we still can't beat Giuliani booking the four seasons gardening center next to the dildo emporium.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 26 points 4 hours ago

Idk he found himself soliciting prostitution on a fucking Borat movie

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago

Sometimes you’re just between a dildo store and a crematorium

[–] EleventhHour@lemmy.world 27 points 6 hours ago

I’m willing to find out

[–] Hubi 4 points 6 hours ago

I don't think anything will beat this one.

Giuliani’s attorney denied the allegations, claiming Giuliani was unaware of how to deliver the assets.

Fucking liar. Guiliani was a prosecutor and knows how assets are supposed to be delivered, be just doesn't want to. I'm going to be so fucking happy the day these ugly corrupt power-mad conspiracy-pushing old white men are dead.

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 41 points 6 hours ago

He also knows that ignorance of the law is not a legitimate defense, even if it's fake ignorance.

[–] EleventhHour@lemmy.world 20 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Shocking that Giuliani does not know how to comply with the law. You know, after being a federal prosecutor for years.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 12 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

That's why he got disbarred!

At least in DC. Not sure about New York.

[–] EleventhHour@lemmy.world 10 points 4 hours ago

Also in New York

Problem is, they always make new ones.

[–] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

Have you checked out the new Vance model? It's almost lifelike.

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 8 points 5 hours ago

Not to mention that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. For most people, anyway.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 62 points 6 hours ago (4 children)

I swear he's actively trying to land in jail at this point.

[–] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 61 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Or just prove that consequences are a myth

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 23 points 6 hours ago

When asked for comment:

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 22 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

More like he knows he won't see any consequences if Trump wins the election.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, he will. He's ignoring a court order,

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 13 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, the wealthy never get away with that!

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 0 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

As a judge would say. The time to discuss this was over. I gave you a lawful order which you have ignored. Perhaps you need some time to think about that.

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Or just wait for his friend Donny J. to issue a pardon.

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

The president can only pardon federal crimes. This is a NY state case AFAIK.

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I did think about that at first, but then I thought "I don't think Trump realizes that, and I don't think that would stop him."

He has enough sycophants behind him at all levels of government to make problems go away, and he definitely wants to wield the power of the president in ways that are unprecedented (un-presidented?).

One can only hope

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 8 points 6 hours ago

Where’s the enforcement?

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 2 points 6 hours ago

I'm more than willing to accommodate that.

[–] itsgroundhogdayagain@lemmy.ml 12 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

He's following the Trump playbook. Delay Delay Delay.

[–] ravhall@discuss.online 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I want a job where I can just say, “it’s almost done boss!” And then go back to not working

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

That can be any job! For a while, anyway.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 14 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Well that's one way to deliver it. Did he take the train home?

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 14 points 6 hours ago

Somehow he skipped jail. Passed Go. AND collected $200!

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 hours ago

Well that's infuriating.
