Basically the title,

I'm stuck with an old version when it was posted on Github before the takedown and I'm out of the loop, thanks guys!

I selfhost a copy of ladder

https://github.com/everywall/ladder

And just wrote a basic right click extension to prefix the url.

Interesting, thanks! I'll have a look at this when I get some time to tinker again

GitFlic. Original dev was chased off of GitHub for by big money

I've blocked the .ru domain because Russia invaded Ukraine and is killing their people. Is there an alternate domain that isn't supported by an authoritarian regime killing its neighbors?

[–] tfowinder@lemmy.ml 7 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

But anyone can by .ru domain or any other domain. I don't see how this makes a difference.

I myself would buy anything that is cheap.

[–] EmbarrassedDrum@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 13 hours ago

the .ru domain probably got a lot cheaper after the war start, lol

[–] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Unfortunately no. Russia doesn't give a shit about that which is why they uploaded there

Bypass paywall still works ?

[–] nameisnotimportant@lemmy.ml 2 points 13 hours ago

It works well surprisingly enough! I'm happy to have it back

Does this also get rid of annoying pop-ups?

Enable the optional filter lists in ublock origin.

[–] nameisnotimportant@lemmy.ml 1 points 13 hours ago

You mean cookies? No

Otherwise I'm not sure, better getting some ad-blocking mechanisms like uBlock, Pi-Hole and the likes

This is a clone of the last GitHub version before dev went away to GitFlic.

Thanks! So I understand that we have to manually install the xpi from here 👌

Yes.

Hot tip. You can enable 'Install extension from file' in mobile Firefox apps (Firefox, Fennec, Mull etc) by going to Settings > About Firefox (or About Fennec etc) > Tapping the name 5 times.

You should see a message about debug mode being enabled and the 'Install extention from file' option should be in the Advanced section of your brower settings.

That's a great tip, thanks! I knew about collections to import extensions from desktop but not that one!

Cant paywalls be bypassed by just using reader mode?

[–] tfowinder@lemmy.ml 2 points 11 hours ago

They are getting smarter. They only load enough text that user has visible on screen.

[–] specialseaweed@sh.itjust.works 4 points 17 hours ago

Not all of them, no.

[–] nameisnotimportant@lemmy.ml 1 points 13 hours ago

Maybe, I have to admit that I never got used to reader mode and I was used to just getting the content seamlessly most of the time. If that works as well that's also a great solution!
