Just a general thread about running. How's your running going? What are you training for? Did you get new shoes? Sporting an injury etc.

I did my first Parkrun this morning. I've been saying I'll do one for ages but I've never managed to pull myself out of bed. There were probably 100 people in the wind and drizzle. Very welcoming and very varied in running ability. I got a PB so I'm pretty happy that I got up. Would recommend.

Over the last few years I’ve focused on just gym time, but I used to run ~30 miles a week, with some pretty heavy elevation changes. Anyway, I bulked up and put* on a good deal of fluff on top of that for a few years. Since my elbow started hurting, and a little depression I’ve given up the gym and started running again. I’m at roughly 20 miles a week, for two months, and I feel like I’ve dropped 10-15 pounds. I don’t have a scale, but I’m wearing my old clothes and belts again. So, I feel pretty good. It’s helping with the depression too, that and not drinking recently.

Edit: I’m also signing up for 5Ks. I only missed one due to depression, so I’m doing pretty good sticking to them. Three so far, one next weekend.

I did two recovery runs since my ultra, and they felt good. Think I'll return to a normal volume again this week.

Sunday was marathon day and I spent almost three hours cheering on runners in the full and half races passing my house. That was fun. I hope that guy running right in front of the street sweepers still made it to the finish...
