Proudly a dumbass bastard for like 15 years!

Isn't Gimp supposed to be pretty good if you can get past the learning curve? Idk it's been like eight years since I've used it

[–] metaStatic@kbin.earth 31 points 1 month ago (1 children)

yep, all bad press is from people who pirated photoshop in high school and refuse to grow beyond that.

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

I used it pretty exclusively. Didn't even realize there was that much of a learning curve, but I wouldn't know any different

[–] GandalftheBlack 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah, I love it. Or maybe I'm just a dumbass bastard.

[–] PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

I use it casually.
There is some simple task I always try to do, which trips me up every time, and I always forget what it is or how to do it by the next time I go to use it.

Idk what the “learning curve” is. It’s not really harder to use than Photoshop for basic things IMO. If you want fancy AI tools Photoshop is better but GIMP does have some.

Idk like I said it's been years since I've used it but that's what I always heard in relation to gimp vs paid options (or paid option)

[–] exu@feditown.com 1 points 1 month ago

It probably is, but the interface is also really bad.

I don't see paint.net on here so I know it's based

Paint.NET is the only Windows-only software I really miss. The closest replacement I've found is Pinta, but the interface is a lot clunkier and it hangs/breaks often.

[–] Vytle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I have a second drive in my system with Windows on it so I can use paint.net
