Bids opened Monday for a contract to supply the state Department of Education with 55,000 Bibles. According to the bid documents, vendors must meet certain specifications: Bibles must be the King James Version; must contain the Old and New Testaments; must include copies of the Pledge of Allegiance, Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights; and must be bound in leather or leather-like material.

A salesperson at Mardel Christian & Education searched, and though they carry 2,900 Bibles, none fit the parameters.

But one Bible fits perfectly: Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA Bible, endorsed by former President Donald Trump and commonly referred to as the Trump Bible. They cost $60 each online, with Trump receiving fees for his endorsement.

Um, why does the Department of Education need that many bibles? And why does a bible need any of this?

A basic bible should cost well under $20. Screw this corruption nonsense.

To add to that, Department of Education buying bibles shouldn't exist as a fact.

Eh, I could see having a few on hand to be useful for religious studies or whatever. But they certainly don't need US legal documents in the same book...

Welp, then the Koran and the Book of Satan should be alongside. Y'allqueda needs to be reigned in.

And also a book of "This page intentionally left blank" so we atheists are properly represented. That, or a Far Side calendar. Either are acceptable to me.

Atheist Bibles are covered by ethics and science textbooks.

We simply call the subject Philosophy, in France. Ethics of science was one example of the themes we studied in my class before our scientific branch baccalauréat. Other branches would have studied other subject nearer to their interests.

Trump's complete lack of ethics could easily provide material for an entire course, I reckon.

Agreed. I studied the Koran alongside the Bible (and some other texts) in high school when we studied religions of other cultures.
