It could be that radiation would kill anything that would otherwise decompose the meat.

That's actually an ancient roman roast recipe: cover it in salt in a crock, put some honey on the slices after. Quite tasty.

So based on other comments here, the delicious recipe for brisket is:

  1. Bathe the brisket in copious brine.
  2. Place in an oven on low heat on timer for 300 years.
  3. Ensure that during this time the brisket is pounded by gamma radiation continuously.
