Look, I understand that phrenology is racist junk science, but you can't tell me that if those two walked into the same coffee shop as you, you wouldn't at least be a little suspicious that they've kidnapped and forced some children into slave labor. They've got the look!

But I'm reliably told that racism isn't a thing any more.

It's the argument the conservative supreme court used to eliminate many provisions of the civil rights act. Which other judges described as ''standing in the rain under an umbrella and throwing away the umbrella because you're not getting wet''

They look exactly like I expected them to look.

That's Mitch McConnell in a wig.

Time to reset the "it's been X days since the last American slave was freed" counter.

[–] nadiaraven@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's literally never been reset. The 13th amendment gives an exception for slavery as punishment for a crime, so all you have to do is convict someone of a bullshit crime and then you've got yourself slave labor. It's still legal. https://www.npr.org/2023/11/13/1210564359/slavery-prison-forced-labor-movement

Yup, and if you find yourself lacking slave driven profit, just pass another law, it's not like the gerrymandered districts will be able to vote your guy out anyways.

I wonder who they were planning on voting for. Hmm. Who could it be?

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

With their five (2 + (5 × ⅗)) votes?

Is it racist that Unicode has a ⅗ symbol?

Haha, been a long time since I’ve watched that.

And I mean, there’s only 20 Unicode symbols for vulgar fractions, and they made ⅗ but didn’t even bother with all of the tenths.
