Kayak VR: Mirage finally ready to launch multiplayer in beta on Steam! Support for PS5 should follow soon.
Development on it started over a year ago and as it turns out, making a VR game with a character, holding a paddle, in a kayak, all physics based, work in multiplayer is no joke!
We’re taking a more iterative approach to the development this time, building on our learnings from the launch of Soca Valley. This means not everything that you expect might be in yet, mainly the race mode and physics objects like the beach ball and other inflatables. Physics objects have turned out to be really difficult so although it's definitely on our list we’ve decided to not let this stand in the way of a release now. Proximity voice chat and cross platform are also not in (yet).
However, the core of being able to kayak around together should provide you all with the experience you were looking for when you think about multiplayer. you can post everything related to multiplayer in the #multiplayer channel on our Discord (https://kayakvr.com/discord). So for the adventurous, switch to the beta branch on Steam and invite your friends and family for a little trip on the water.
