Estimates have the Gaza population down a full 10% since the start of the war, with the crash in population continuing unabatted.

This is genocide in every sense of the word. We're watching the extermination of 1.4M people in real time.

Still cracks me up that Netanyahu sat there in the oval office with Joe Biden next to him and called him an "Irish American Zionist" right to his face in front of cameras. 😂🇮🇪🇮🇱

And you know what... Biden knows he is too. He's not going to do anything to stop Netanyahu. He's not going to do anything significant to stop the killing. He's going to sit there and be insulted in the White House by someone who.... for whatever reason.... has him by the short grey curlies.

Given that backdrop, why wouldn't US multinationals make dollars?

Biden is a self-admitted Zionist, isn't he? It's not a pejorative to him, or any establishment politician. It's ironic considering Ireland and the Irish people have been vocally calling it a genocide since the beginning.

Still, there are more proponents of a ceasefire on the Dem's side than the Rep's, especially down ballot. If the Dem's capture both House and Senate, there might be enough noise to actually pressure towards a ceasefire. Go vote.

I know he makes a big thing about being Irish and Ireland has a long history of viewing Israel's actions as akin to the oppression they suffered under the British. So saying Irish and Zionist in the same sentence is almost like saying Ireland is part of Britain. Jaysus can you imagine how insulting that is 😆. Yet he just sat there and grinned.

There might be more proponents on the Democrat side for a ceasefire.... but let's be realistic..... the US isn't going to stop Israeli aggression.

Listen, not to generalize a large group of people... but Irish-Americans are a strange bunch. The mix of Catholic guilt and American exceptionalism I have experienced in that demographic of my friends/classmates is definitely something I think about more than I probably should.

okay but how are you going to pressure them AFTER you vote, because if you've got no plan, there's no point legitimizing their bullshit.

Sorry if I was unclear, I meant that you should be voting down ballot for people that are vocal about putting pressure on the higher ups, or have the power to put in local reforms that have cascading effects to a wider state/national level. Your state representatives, your municipal councils of government, your schoolboard representatives, a lot of places have those elections tied to presidential elections, and low voter turn out hurts a LOT because those are less gerrymandered and more likely to swing progressive if more people turn out to vote.

Many people think that voting for the "right" presidential candidate is how things change, but there is just too much money concentrated at the top for it to ever happen post-Jimmy Carter. They will always more likely be milquetoast centrists to outright fascists, depending on the party.

Of course this is all my opinion.

local elections SHOULD matter, but under the thumb of the government anything good you try to do will be banned. BDS stuff, muni broadband, walkable urbanism, whatever, will be banned at a higher level where it's more cost effective to buy politicians.

you cannot win with electoralism alone. maybe it can be a supporting thing in a broader strategy, but it's worse than useless on its own.

Thanks. Yeah it's difficult to search for and request sometimes (cookies, or JS required), so why I was asking if others might have it
