Thought his eyes were bugging out in the first panel. So confused as it didn't fit the comic style
Everett True Comics
A place to appreciate the twentieth century comic character Everett True of "The Outbursts of Everett True." Feel free to check out the sticky.
You're telling me that's not what it depicts?
I thought so too at first, but looking more closely I'm pretty sure that's an awning fringe, and the anger is at the shopkeeper for having an awning that's too low.
Agreed. Had to zoom in to make sure I wasn't crazy
Are his pants made out of awning, or is the awning made out of pants???
As a non-native speaker, the word 'awning' feels very rare. I have never heard of it. Does every native speaker know this word, or is it some upper class description with a more common known sibbling?
Without grabbing a thesaurus, I am not sure if there is an equivalent synonym. I'd probably expect around a minimum of 80% of native speakers to know the word.
It's pretty common. It just doesn't need to be addressed that often. Like towels, you're not going to bring them up unless they're relevant.
