I have the Guardian repo enabled, not the archive. Is the Torbrowser gone? Does anyone know more about this?

I still have it installed, but when making a guide on setting up GrapheneOS, I realized Torbrowser was not there

Edit: It seems to have vanished from the Guardian repo?

Here is the Torproject repo with always the latest stable and alpha.

Here is the izzyondroid site that I used to download the Guardian repos latest release, which is outdated

Here is the official fancy download site

Just for your info, this is the hash of the latest arm64 stable APK:

0512a00b30cff2fb5a158a11b8599f3b88fb8401

(I recommend Material files, has all sorts of checks integrated)

Aaand FFUpdater, which is normally only useful for downloading proprietary Browsers, can update it!

You should get it from the nation fdroid repo. Guardian hasn't been doing tor browser for a while

What is that? Never heard of it, its on no List, checked it, literally on no list

Sorry, auto complete failure... I meant to type 'normal'

[–] erAck@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There is no Tor Browser package in the "normal" main repo.

Its not on main f-droid for some reason.

Here's the guardian project repo https://guardianproject.info/fdroid/repo?fingerprint=b7c2eefd8dac7806af67dfcd92eb18126bc08312a7f2d6f3862e46013c7a6135 Check in fdroid settings how you flagged "show available updates", "show incompatible versions", & "include anti-feature apps". Also make sure to update repositories. FYI - I show "Tor Browser for Android" from the Tor Project Ver 102.2.1-Release(12.5.6) 9/29/23.

Thanks, checking all checkboxes under "anti-features" showed it again, but still not the latest version

I just downloaded version 13 from the Tor Project website. However, I think they will eventually make their own repo.

Oh interesting, its officially supported now?

I hope they deblob it, like Fennec and Mull.

Weirdly, I also found a version on the izzyondroid website that for some reason has all APKs from all repos?

And it said to "not be compatible with my device", running Android 13 on arm64? I dont get how that could not be compatible?

[–] erAck@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If in F-Droid, maybe scroll down a little? There are 4 different ABI builds for each release. Anyway, those are the old 12.5.6 based on 102.2.1esr.

Weirdly, I also found a version on the izzyondroid website that for some reason has all APKs from all repos?

It lists the packages, doesn't have them..

I searched all of F-Droid. Weird that it didnt show the app at all, because some (outdated) versions are still there?

With a Guardian repo's Tor Browser package installed you can use FFUpdater to update, which pulls the torproject's .apk (currently 13.0) and later will keep it updated.

Thanks, thats a good workaround!
