In German, in is common to wish someone "health" when they cough. The Knigge institute once decided that this is bad because when someone has an incurable illness, they will be remembered of it each time they cough. So they decided that it's better that the coughing person should excuse themself and move on. Later they changed it back because they realized it was a bad idea.
