Or lay them all out long ways and measure

[–] eman_resu@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Or lay them all out short ways and measure

Or lay them all out diagonally and use the Pythagorean theorum

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Or you just say you cooked for many days.

[–] entwine413@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago

Exactly. I just cook the entire box, make enough sauce, then portion it out from there. No need to fuck with figuring out how much dry pasta is reasonable.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just look at how much you have when it's uncooked and then remember what that much looks like after it's been cooked? Should start to get an idea after a few hundred pots of pasta. 🙃👌

[–] nichtburningturtle 35 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Noted. Start with a few hundred pots of pasta. Adjust from there.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Should work in theory 👌

My brothers and I use 500g... for 3 people. Yes we do eat a lot. And that's without the pesto, cheese etc

Wow! I use 200g for 2 people and I thought I was using a lot!

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah that's 2-3× servings per serving

[–] entwine413@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

That could be a reasonable amount based on the person. I'm a large framed dude, and when I was seriously trying to bulk through 7 days a week of HIIT, I had to eat like 5,000 Calories a day. My resting heart rate did get to the low 40s for a while, so that was cool (doctor said it was a good thing).

Btw, eating 5,000 Calories of healthy food a day fucking sucks. It's basically like eating is your full time job.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I agree that 2.5× the serving makes sense if your goal is to eat 2.5× the calories.

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 day ago

My mind is blown.

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 2 points 1 day ago

I'm quite thin, so nope I guess I do have a black hole in my stomach.

Once I get HRT I'll eat these kinds of portions more regularly to increase its effects.

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago

I can eat 500g by myself in a sitting... or at least in my prime when i wheighed 100kg but still people looked horrified when they saw how much i ate.

[–] TheFriendlyDickhead@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

I usualy make around 200g... just for myself. It's not thaat crazy. I now a lot of people who do so. I'm a relatively thin dude. But to be fair I do a lot of sports (although I have been injured for the past 3 month and haven't stopped eating that much) I think it just realy depends on how effectively your body handles the food and therefore atrongly varies from person to person.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

In college I used to be able to down a full pound of pasta easily. Nowadays I get full after 20 noodles…

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You make pasta when you want.

I make pasta out of soups...

We are not the same, and I'm not allowed to cook soups anymore.

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 8 points 1 day ago

Your dream of pasta and soup is real and it is beautiful, it's just called pho

Still must be consumed while fresh.

[–] Robert7301201@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 day ago

I fail to see this as a problem. More pasta is always welcome.

[–] ArtVandelay@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

"it's Dean Martin's recipe, I always make too much"

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (3 children)

How much dry pasta per person by weight?

[–] YaDownWitCPP@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Approximately .69 grams per kilogram should do it.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's ... actually pretty accurate

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

0.69 x 75 ≈ 52

I eat at least twice that amount

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, overserving pasta is pretty common

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

you're saying I'm eating too much? for context this is when I'm only adding sauce and nothing else because a courgette alone is already too large to eat by myself

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Look at this guy, he can't handle a whole courgette

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

mayve I should try it once

[–] PostingInPublic@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

A quarter or a third of a 500g pack depending on how hungry you are, 125g or 166g. In an Italian menu no more than 100g as a "primo", where the pasta dish is one of two main dishes and you are supposed to eat bread as a filler.

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I do 150g with a light sauce, like aglio e olio or chili oil. Maybe 75g if it's going with a bunch of veg and meat.
