Couldn't handle staying at home today so I took the Minipeelers to the zoo. The meerkats were a delight

Have had a contemplative sunday. Am recovering from surgery, resting in bed, thinking about hiw/why I havent really spoken to my very elderly mother in years. Is this the painkillers talking, or sensibility?

hope you get better real soon ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

Now for the drive back to Melbourne. The boys are feeling better so I hope it's better than the trip away

Damn, every time I leave this place I delete the memory of how disgustingly huge cockroaches get, and then every time I come back I get a rude shock. ๐Ÿคข Loathsome creatures...

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (3 children)

In Sydney I had ones that had been poisoned so many times they stopped dying and grew curly wings ๐Ÿคฎ

[โ€“] dumblederp@aussie.zone 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

My friends had ones that learned to run upright on their back legs to keep the poison offa their mouth-hand-legs.

Theyโ€™re genuinely invincible

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh god, flying cockroaches are the end boss nightmare. Ewwwwwww

Spent the night playing guitar, and it was worth it. The new pedal is absolutely incredible! Managed to write a new song for open mic in a few weeks. Was it worth the insane price? I tell myself: yes! Yes it was!

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

How many hours are you getting out of it? X$ might seem large to begin with but compare it to any one time fun cost like cinema and I'll bet you're well ahead

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's a great point! It cost 33 movie tickets and I've already gotten 15 movies worth out of it lol

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

Rock on ๐Ÿค˜

Glad the pedal is working out!

I always amortise the cost / use in my head for big ticket studio stuff. Makes me feel better and helps me sleep.

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's a great way to deal with it lol

I mean, at least I'm making something with it that gives me emotional catharsis then it's worth it.

Even though it's only 2 effects, the algos are incredible and many have multiple effects in one which helps.

I have one more on layby:

Wmd geiger counter pro. Look it up man. It's insane lol

If sunday isn't for sitting in bed, reading and napping then when is?

Edit: Glad I have a spare amp in the bedroom. Sleepy cat, guitar, iPad to read SCP's and my phone playing some tunes is perfect.

Calling it an early night here. I'm going to try and switch back to Melbourne time as much as I can. Didn't get any work done today and started noticing my historic irritations with my mum creeping in as she's getting better, don't need that polluting my mindspace and going back to teenage memories, so an early retreat and an early start tomorrow where I can focus on what I need to get done for the life I have back home.

Packing continues today. I have "packed" my strawberries into new tubs, all divided up, topped up with soil and a new layer of mulch on top.

I've got 5 or 6 more big rectangular tubs (the old recycling tubs, for those who remember the pre-wheelie days) and a bunch of pots to put other things into. It's the perfect time of year to be moving plants, which is why I chose now to move. I just need to find somewhere to move to...

Doing some work on a Sunday (boo) - client issue came up just before the long weekend, which has been on my mind and needed the calm of a weekend day to work through it. Email prepped and ready to send out tomorrow morning. Now I can relax.

MedicalI need to take phosphate supplements due to my levels being very low post iron infusion and having now dropped further which is a risk to my heart.

But theyโ€™ve given me supplements with artificial sweeteners which I donโ€™t tolerate. Iโ€™m seriously struggling with being able to take them.

The resulting stomach upset is wasting fluid I canโ€™t afford to lose (dehydration) and causing extra pain but at the same time I can feel something definitely is wrong. I do need to replace the phosphates. Iโ€™m really weak, dizzy, and dropping things from my numb hands.

Iโ€™ve been searching for any alternatives and rung a support worker who is going to check out some possible options.

If I canโ€™t take them by mouth it will have to be done via iv which means hospital. Iโ€™m hoping Iโ€™ll be able to access it through an urgent care or a privately paid service but maybe not.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You absolutely can get tabs without sweeteners, was on them during chemo. Also fizzy berocca-like form. Speak to your pharmacist.

Roses are red

Something else is maroon

My poetry sucks

Get well soon

Hot cross buns are fine but my fav Easter treat is the Greek almond crescent shortbreads. So good with a cuppa.

Final day of Cyclethon and Pokemon Community Day! Yay! I know I'll cry when they cross the finish line.

I've worked hard today. I've had 5 coffees and roughly 99 trips to the dunny and I've discovered a new nerve located close to my hip that likes to give me a zap every now and again which is fucking fun.

I have finally finished my sofa. I finished the cushions a while ago (although it took a long time, all those long edges take forever to sew) and today did the webbing to replace the springs. It took quite a long time and used a lot of staples. Sitting on the couch properly instead of sunken in with the old squashed cushions and stretched springs should be good for my back.

I expected Miss Meow to get freaked out by the noise of the staple gun but it didn't seem to bother her. She even came over and walked all over the webbing midway. Now that it is finished she has indulged in some zoomies, attacked the end of a roll of tape I haven't yet put away, and is now holding on to a small piece of tape she just captured with a dramatic pounce. Who would have thought she was into upholstery?

Man, I'm so exhausted after a 3 hour cooking marathon (not including half an hour of popping over to the shops) plus another hour of cleaning up. But I think we are good for food now for the next 3-4 days. Taken me a while to recover but now I feel ready to at least start writing some work to-do stuff down... If I'm lucky I'll get some things done today.

Is this the first puffer jacket day ?? I do need to venture to the outside

[โ€“] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fashion advice : banana print oodie, striped pj pants and ugg boots. Just because you recognize the existence of the outside, that does not mean that you necessarily endorse it.

[โ€“] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Good advice indeed. Unfortunately I have now showered and washed that tangle on my head (turns out there was hair in there) and so I shall pretend for a few hours to be a member of society (have my floppy comfy jeans on though)

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Round 4 paint stripper. Wheee!

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 1 week ago

Hmm, contents insurance is due and the premium is up 20%. Ran it through their online calculator for the same details and it's only up 10%. Absolutely shameless.

Annoyingly my policy expires 4 days before my planned moving date.

I got an Amazon parcel today with my name and address, but I did not place the order. It had a $20 Shrek picture storybook in it. I'm going to assume it's a joke birthday present from one of my silly friends, but a tiny part of me wonders if it's someone from my past trying to call me an ogre. Either way, how bizarre.

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 1 week ago (3 children)

There is a scam where they use your address and a different name to deliver very small items and then send a huge expensive thing once the address is 'validated'
