For a while now I have had this problem that everytime I used a voice command for Google Assistant that a few minutes after the command got executed I get the sound of Google Assistant activating and waiting for input for like 2 seconds or so (also with the green microphone activated icon in the corner).

Does anyone else experience the same problem or has an idea how I can get rid of this?

Did you tried reseting the device? Maybe a setting is causing the issue

Playback devices could make issues like that

Do you mean factory resetting the phone?

I though you was talking about a voice assistant like Amazon one, do not factory reset the phone just for that.

Try clearing the data of the Google assistant app

Go to “Settings”
Go to “Apps”
Go to “Manage Apps”
Click the “three dots” in the upper right-hand corner
Select “Show all applications”
Search “Google assistant” and click on it
And there should be an option there to clear the data of the app

Ah sorry I should have added that this happens on a Pixel 7.

I will try your suggestion

Unfortunately no. At first I thought it worked because clearing the data of the app did also disable the "Hey, Google" command and all my voice commands were picked up by my Google Home Mini but after enabling it again it keeps happening.

There are multiple solutions:

  1. You can deactivate Google
  2. You can deactivate voice commands
  3. You can let the assistant train on your voice, and when you do, try to not use your normal voice so that there won't be false positives.

All these options are unfortunately no option for me since I regularly use these functions to control my smart devices (lights)
