If you swipe left you get to Google News. Is it possible to replace this feed with another app? Maybe an independent news service?

I believe it's just hard baked into the phone's software. You'd have to jail break it to change it. Try a news app for your needs?

That I need a launcher or root is clear to me. But which app then offers its own feed that I reach by swiping left?
