Holy fuck, this is one thing I don't miss about reddit, people are so willy nilly with the down votes and don't even explain why, I had to go back recently to ask a jewelery subreddit about information on buying something and my post and every comment got bombed even though I was being polite AF. On Lemmy, people will argue with you sure, but rarely will you just find you've got zero on your post unless you were outwardly being an ass
Yeah that's because lemmy is way more of an echo chamber so everyone agrees with each other more.
That doesn't explain polite discussion of disagreements without down votes
