Hello!

I'm looking to migrate from owncloud as they're stuck with php 7.4 and docker. Nextcloud is the obvious followup choice but I'm not convinced from what I've read it seems like it's prone to breakingin between upgrade that's a headache I really don't want. Can anyone who uses nextcloud pitch in, eventually?

Any suggestions?

Date in the thread added just for future googlers coming here.

It must be:

  • opensource (I don't mind paying as long as I can self-host it)
  • must be able to run self-hosted
  • must have a sync client
  • must support S3 buckets
  • must be able to have users/passowrds of course, but in addition to that it must be able to create public shares protected by password/expiration dates
  • Ideally, but not a hard stopper, it should be able to import (credentials, users, files) from an owncloud installation

Thanks!

Running NC on the same instance for the last 4 years on docker. Both point versions and major version upgrades work fine, as long as you take care to check for 3rd party app compatibility.

Not running "latest" and not auto-updating helps.
