I have now officially spent a small fortune on stuff for the new place. A fair bit of it is stuff that needed to be replaced anyway, and some of it is just because I want the place to look nice. It's been a bit tricky to work out how to place all the furniture, but I think I've got a layout that will work (pending measurement for a couple of things). It's a fairly square lounge/dining area, with foot traffic that will cross somewhat diagonally from the rest of the house to the door to the back yard. I'm not sure it would be possible to get a decent layout if you had a tv. A big couch or dining table would also be tricky.

The biggest purchase is a (very small) dining table and a couple of chairs. I spent nearly as much on new furniture for Miss Meow too - I had been planning to recover the tree she currently has as the frame is good, but it's not really going to fit in the new place. So now instead of one big corner unit she will have two smaller units and a window hammock. I also bought a couple of pink fluffy footstools that look like her cat bed on legs that I expect she will use for snoozing.

I've also bought lots of dull but necessary things - new doormats, drawer and shelf liners, suction cup shelves for the bathroom, felted end caps for all the furniture to stop it scuffing the hard floor. I also upgraded my mop and bucket as the main living area is all hard floor.

Edit: Miss Meow is going to have a little garden themed corner, including a

banana tree

surrounded by fallen leaves

with a flower themed climbing frame

I find it hilarious when companies like Kmart and Temu photoshop animals into the pictures of pet accessories. They probably couldn't get a real cat rhough

Some use stuffed animals instead, which also looks pretty silly. They often get the scale wrong too, most often on purpose to make their items look bigger. You always need to buy with a tape measure in hand and not rely on what things look like.

You do realise that Miss Meow will ignore all these facilities, and seek out your best angora sweater to sleep on instead.

Nonsense, she much prefers the sock drawer ๐Ÿคฃ

The tree scratcher is probably more for my entertainment than hers, although she does like the uprights for scratching on. I'm trying to stop her clawing up the new couch, so as many alternatives as possible is a good thing. Her main hobby though is progressive snoozing, with a series of ever changing nap spots being utilised on a daily basis. She likes the fluffy beds on the floor, hanging baskets, inside her little tunnel, and the aforementioned sock drawer. So she will probably use most of those types of spots, and the other climbing stand (which is a much more boring wood) will also double as stairs onto the small kitchen trolley that I will be re-purposing as her dog-safe meals area. The hammock on the window will get morning sun so should also make for a good napping spot.

I haven't forgotten Mr Woof either - his needs are a bit simpler and he doesn't really need anything new, but I got a couple of fluffy rugs to go in front of the bedroom windows, which are the ones that face the street so he's likely to want to keep an eye on things from there.

Where did you get this stuff? Might get a sniff from Gibson lol

They are all Temu stuff. A lot of the bigger cat stuff is shipping from Australia these days, so it should be arriving in a couple of days.
